The POCO X7 is a mid-range 5G phone. POCO announced it on January 9, 2025, together with the X7 Pro. It went on sale in India on January 17, 2025. POCO does not sell it officially in the US. In Europe, it costs €299.90 for the 8 GB + 256 GB version.
Design and display
The X7 uses a 6.67-inch CrystalRes AMOLED panel with curved edges on both sides. It has a 2712 x 1220 resolution and a 120 Hz refresh rate. Peak brightness reaches 3,000 nits. The screen supports HDR10+ and Dolby Vision. Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 covers the front.
The phone comes in Black, Silver and Green. The Black version has a faux leather back with yellow edge strips. Silver and Green use a plastic back. The body is rated IP68 for dust and water resistance. It weighs 185.5 g with a plastic back and 190 g with the leather finish.
Performance
Inside is the Dimensity 7300-Ultra, a 4 nm octa-core chip that runs at up to 2.5 GHz. A Mali-G615 MC2 GPU handles graphics. Memory options are 8 GB + 256 GB and 12 GB + 512 GB. India also gets an 8 GB + 128 GB model. The phone uses LPDDR4X RAM and UFS 2.2 storage. There is no microSD slot.
Cameras
The rear setup has three cameras. The main one is a 50 MP sensor with an f/1.5 lens and optical image stabilization. An 8 MP ultra-wide and a 2 MP macro camera complete it. The main camera records 4K video at up to 30 fps. On the front, a 20 MP camera records 1080p video at up to 60 fps.
Battery and charging
The X7 has a 5,110 mAh battery with 45 W wired charging. The global box lists a 45 W charger. However, units sold in Europe ship without one. Wireless charging is not supported.
Software and updates
The phone launched with Xiaomi HyperOS based on Android 14. POCO promises three years of Android updates and four years of security patches. Other features include NFC, an IR blaster, stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos and Wi-Fi 6. Bluetooth 5.4 and an in-screen fingerprint sensor are also included. There is no headphone jack.
Should you buy the POCO X7?
The X7 suits buyers who want a large 120 Hz AMOLED screen and IP68 protection at a mid-range price. Its 5,110 mAh battery and 45 W charging cover daily use. The Dimensity 7300 is aimed at everyday tasks rather than heavy gaming. For more performance, the POCO X7 Pro uses a faster chip and UFS 4.0 storage. Keep in mind that the newer POCO X8 has already replaced it.
