Chipset classes explained
Flagship
The fastest chips each maker builds. Top CPU and graphics performance, advanced camera processing and the newest modems.
Snapdragon 8 series, Dimensity 9000 series, Apple A-series, Google Tensor, Exynos 2000 series
Upper mid-range
Close to recent flagships for less money. Smooth in demanding games and heavy apps.
Snapdragon 7 series, Dimensity 8000 series
Mid-range
Balanced chips for everyday apps, social media and casual gaming, often with good efficiency.
Snapdragon 6 series, Dimensity 7000 series, most Exynos 1000 series
Entry
Basic performance for calls, messaging, browsing and video in budget phones.
Snapdragon 4 series, Dimensity 6000 series, Helio G series, most Unisoc chips
How to read the scores
Scores are reference results for each chipset. The same chip can score a little differently from phone to phone, depending on cooling, clock speeds and software. These numbers also feed the Performance part of our phone scores.
- Single-core
- Geekbench 6. The speed of one CPU core: how quickly apps open and web pages load.
- Multi-core
- Geekbench 6. All CPU cores working together: multitasking, video export and other heavy work.
- AnTuTu
- Version 10 or newer. An overall score for the CPU, graphics, memory and storage. The graphics part matters most for games.
Phone chipsets FAQ
What is a phone chipset?
A chipset, or system on a chip (SoC), is the main processor of a phone. One chip holds the CPU, the graphics processor, the AI engine, the camera image processor and usually the modem. It sets how fast the phone feels and affects battery life.
Which phone chipset is the fastest?
Sort the ranking above by multi-core or AnTuTu score. The chipset at the top is the fastest one in our database right now. The list updates as new chips and benchmark results are added.
Is Snapdragon better than Dimensity?
It depends on the exact model and generation. Flagship chips from Qualcomm and MediaTek perform close to each other, while an older or lower-class chip can be much slower. Compare the specific chipsets in the ranking rather than the brand names.
Does the chipset affect battery life?
Yes. Newer chips built on smaller manufacturing processes usually use less power for the same work. Battery capacity, display and software still matter, so check the whole phone, not only the chip.
Why does the same phone use different chipsets in different countries?
Some makers, such as Samsung, fit different chips depending on the region. Our phone pages list the chipset of the US model, or the global model if there is no US version, and mention the other chip in the text.
