The Xiaomi 14T is an upper mid-range phone from Xiaomi. It was announced in Berlin on September 26, 2024. It launched alongside the Xiaomi 14T Pro and shares most of its design and display with that model. The phone is not sold in the US. In Europe, it started at €649.99 for the 12GB + 256GB version. Xiaomi later replaced it with the Xiaomi 15T.
Design and display
The 14T has a flat 6.67-inch AMOLED screen with a resolution of 2712 x 1220 pixels and 446 ppi. The refresh rate goes up to 144Hz, and peak brightness reaches 4,000 nits. The panel supports HDR10+ and Dolby Vision, and Gorilla Glass 5 covers the front.
Three Titan colors use a matte glass back. The Lemon Green version uses a PU leather back instead, which makes it 2 grams lighter. The phone measures 7.8 mm thick with the glass back and weighs 195 grams. It is rated IP68 for dust and water resistance.
Performance
Inside is the MediaTek Dimensity 8300 in its Ultra version, built on a 4nm process. Its CPU tops out at 3.35GHz, and the GPU is an Arm Mali-G615 MC6. Every version has 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.0 storage, with 256GB or 512GB to choose from. There is no microSD slot.
Other hardware includes Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.4, NFC and an IR blaster. However, the USB-C port runs only at USB 2.0 speed.
Cameras
The rear camera system was developed with Leica and has three lenses. The main camera uses a 50MP Sony IMX906 sensor (1/1.56-inch) with an f/1.7 lens and optical image stabilization. Next to it sit a 50MP telephoto camera with a 50mm equivalent focal length and a 12MP ultra-wide camera. The ultra-wide covers a 120-degree field of view.
The rear cameras record 4K video at up to 60 fps, and the phone can shoot in a log format. On the front, a 32MP selfie camera records 4K at 30 fps. Unlike the 14T Pro, this model cannot record 8K video.
Battery and charging
The 14T has a 5,000mAh battery. It supports 67W wired HyperCharge, but there is no wireless charging. Also, Xiaomi does not include a charger in the box, so the 67W adapter is sold separately.
Software and updates
The phone shipped with Xiaomi HyperOS based on Android 14. It includes Google Circle to Search and Gemini. Xiaomi adds AI tools such as AI Interpreter, AI Notes and AI Recorder. Xiaomi promises four major Android upgrades and five years of security updates.
Should you buy the Xiaomi 14T?
The 14T suits buyers who want a bright 144Hz screen, a Leica telephoto camera and IP68 protection. It costs less than the Pro model. It also offers 12GB of RAM in every version. On the other hand, it lacks wireless charging, 8K video and fast USB transfers. Xiaomi’s own stores now list it as out of stock. Its successor, the Xiaomi 15T, is already on sale.
