The realme GT 7 Pro is a flagship phone announced in China on November 4, 2024. It reached India and other international markets later that month. In Europe, the 12GB/256GB model launched with a recommended price of €999. The phone targets buyers who want top-tier performance, a large battery and strong water resistance.
Design and display
The GT 7 Pro has a 6.78-inch Eco² OLED Plus panel developed with Samsung Display. Its resolution is 2780 x 1264 pixels, and the refresh rate goes up to 120Hz. realme rates the local peak brightness at 6,500 nits. In addition, the touch sampling rate reaches up to 2,600Hz in instant mode.
The body uses an aluminum frame and measures 8.55 mm thick. It weighs about 222.8 grams. The phone carries both IP68 and IP69 ratings, so it can handle immersion and high-pressure water jets. It comes in Mars Orange and Galaxy Grey.
Performance
Inside is the Snapdragon 8 Elite, built on a 3nm process. Its CPU cores run at up to 4.32GHz. The GPU is an Adreno 830. Global models offer 12GB or 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 256GB or 512GB of UFS 4.0 storage. There is no microSD slot.
Cameras
The rear setup has three cameras. The main 50MP Sony IMX906 sensor has an f/1.8 lens and optical image stabilization. A 50MP Sony IMX882 periscope telephoto offers 3x optical zoom and OIS. An 8MP ultrawide completes the system.
The main camera records video up to 8K at 24fps. On the front, a 16MP selfie camera records up to 1080p at 60fps. An Underwater mode lets the phone take photos and videos in water.
Battery and charging
Global models use a 6,500mAh battery, while the Indian version has a smaller 5,800mAh cell. Wired charging reaches 120W, and a 120W adapter ships in the box. However, the phone does not support wireless charging.
Software and updates
The GT 7 Pro launched with realme UI 6.0 based on Android 15. Reports on the update policy differ by market. Therefore, check the terms in your region before buying. Other features include an ultrasonic in-display fingerprint reader, stereo speakers, an IR blaster, NFC, Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4.
Should you buy the realme GT 7 Pro?
The GT 7 Pro suits buyers who want Snapdragon 8 Elite speed, a big battery and fast wired charging. Its IP68 and IP69 ratings also make it a good fit for outdoor use. On the other hand, it lacks wireless charging and eSIM support. It also uses USB 2.0. realme has since released the GT 8 Pro as its successor.
