The Fairphone Gen. 6+ is a repairable mid-range Android phone from Fairphone. It was announced and went on sale on August 18, 2026, in Europe and the United States. It is the first Fairphone sold directly in the US, through Fairphone’s own store and Amazon, at $649.99. In Europe, it costs €649. The phone is a refresh of the Fairphone Gen. 6 with a newer chip and more memory. A version with the /e/OS operating system is also sold.
Design and display
The Gen. 6+ keeps the body of the Gen. 6. It measures 156.57 x 73.28 x 9.6 mm and weighs 193 g. The back cover is held by screws, and the phone is rated IP55 for dust and water splashes. Fairphone also lists MIL-STD-810H drop testing from 1.5 meters.
The 6.31-inch LTPO AMOLED panel has a resolution of 1116 x 2484 pixels. Its refresh rate ranges from 10 Hz to 120 Hz, and peak brightness reaches 1,400 nits. Corning Gorilla Glass 7i covers the screen. On the right side, a yellow switch turns on Fairphone Moments, a minimalist mode with up to five chosen apps.
Performance
The phone runs on the Snapdragon 7s Gen 4, a 4 nm chip with a top CPU core clock of 2.7 GHz. It replaces the Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 of the Gen. 6. RAM grows from 8GB to 12GB of LPDDR5. Fairphone says apps load and switch up to 24% faster. Storage is 256GB of UFS 3.1, and a microSD slot accepts cards of up to 2TB.
Cameras
The rear camera system has two sensors. The main camera uses a 50MP Sony LYTIA 700C sensor with a 1/1.56-inch size, f/1.88 aperture and optical image stabilization. It is joined by a 13MP ultrawide camera with a 108-degree field of view. Both rear cameras record 4K video at 30 fps. On the front, there is a 32MP selfie camera with autofocus. The cameras are the same as on the Gen. 6.
Battery and charging
The 4,415mAh battery is removable, and a spare costs $39.95 in the US. Wired charging is rated at 27W with peaks of 30W. Fairphone states a 50% charge in 30 minutes and a full charge in 85 minutes. Wireless charging is not supported, and no charger comes in the box.
Software and updates
The phone ships with Android 16 and no third-party apps beyond the Google suite. Fairphone promises six major Android upgrades and software support until 2033. A new Fairphone Gallery app keeps photos stored locally. Twelve parts can be replaced at home with the Torx T5 screwdriver that comes in the box.
Should you buy the Fairphone Gen. 6+?
The Gen. 6+ suits buyers who want to repair their phone themselves and keep it for many years. It offers a removable battery, a microSD slot, a five-year warranty and long software support. In the US, it works on AT&T and T-Mobile, but not on Verizon. Buyers who need wireless charging, full water resistance or a headphone jack should look at other models. Owners of the Gen. 6 get the same body and cameras, so the upgrade adds mainly speed and memory.
