The REDMI Note 17 is the 4G entry model of the Note 17 series. Xiaomi announced it for global markets on August 27, 2026, next to the REDMI Note 17 5G. The two phones share almost every spec. The main differences are the chipset and 5G support. In Europe, it starts at €249.90 for 4 GB + 128 GB. That places it in the lower mid-range.
Design and display
The phone has a flat 6.99-inch AMOLED screen with a 2396 x 1080 resolution. It refreshes at up to 120 Hz. Xiaomi rates its peak brightness at 1,800 nits, with 1,200 nits in high brightness mode. Corning Gorilla Glass 7i covers the display, and an optical fingerprint sensor sits under it.
The body measures 169.7 x 79.14 x 8.45 mm and weighs 224 g. It has an IP65 rating for dust and water resistance. Wet Touch Technology 2.0 keeps the screen usable with wet hands. It comes in Black, Sky Teal and Celestial Purple.
Performance
The Note 17 runs on the Snapdragon 6s 4G Gen 2. This 6 nm chip has an octa-core CPU with a top clock of 2.9 GHz. The REDMI Note 17 5G uses the 4 nm Snapdragon 4 Gen 4 instead, which adds 5G. Apart from the chipset and the network support, Xiaomi gives both phones the same core specs.
It comes with 4 GB to 8 GB of LPDDR4X RAM. Storage is 128 GB or 256 GB of UFS 2.2. A hybrid slot takes a microSD card of up to 2 TB. Connectivity includes 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth 5.0, NFC and an IR blaster.
Cameras
The rear has a 50 MP main camera with an f/1.8 lens. The front camera has 16 MP and an f/2.5 lens. Both cameras record video at up to 1080p and 30 fps. A dual video mode records with the front and rear cameras at the same time.
Battery and charging
A 7,700 mAh silicon-carbon battery powers the phone. It supports 45 W wired charging and up to 22.5 W wired reverse charging for other devices. Xiaomi says the battery keeps at least 80% of its capacity after 1,600 charge cycles. There is no wireless charging.
Software and updates
The Note 17 ships with Xiaomi HyperOS 3 based on Android 16. Xiaomi promises six years of security updates. It also offers Circle to Search and Gemini. AI photo tools include AI Erase Pro and AI Sky.
Should you buy the REDMI Note 17?
The Note 17 suits buyers who want a large AMOLED screen and a big battery at a low price. The IP65 rating, microSD slot and NFC add everyday value. However, it has no 5G, no 4K video and only one listed rear camera. If you need 5G, the REDMI Note 17 5G offers the same design and battery with a newer chip.
