The TECNO Camon 50 Ultra 5G is the top model of the Camon 50 series. TECNO unveiled it at MWC 2026 in Barcelona in March 2026. The Camon 50 Pro and Camon 50 launched alongside it. It is an upper mid-range phone built around its cameras, a large battery and broad water resistance. The phone is not sold in the US. In India, the 8GB + 256GB version costs Rs 39,999. Sales there started on July 21, 2026, through Amazon India.
Design and display
The phone uses a 6.78-inch curved AMOLED screen with a 1208 x 2644 resolution and a 144Hz refresh rate. TECNO quotes a 2800Hz touch sampling rate, and the panel is covered by Gorilla Glass 7i. The body measures 162.37 x 76.97 x 7.75 mm and weighs about 178 grams.
Durability is a key part of the design. The phone carries IP66, IP68, IP69 and IP69K ratings. It is protected against dust, submersion and high-pressure hot water jets. TECNO also cites MIL-STD-810 testing. A dedicated One-Tap AI key sits on the frame. Colors include Moonshadow Black, Nebula Titanium, Cypress Green, Misty Purple and Luminous Orange.
Performance
Inside is the MediaTek Dimensity 7400, which TECNO sells as the Dimensity 7400 Ultimate. It is a 4nm chip with four Cortex-A78 cores at up to 2.6 GHz and four Cortex-A55 cores. The phone comes with 8GB or 12GB of RAM and 256GB or 512GB of storage. There is no microSD card slot.
For cooling, TECNO uses a stainless steel vapor chamber with an area of 3,205 square millimeters. Android Central found the phone smooth in daily use, though heavy games do not run at the highest settings.
Cameras
The main camera uses a 50MP Sony LYTIA 700C sensor. It has a 1/1.56-inch size, an f/1.8 aperture and optical image stabilization. Next to it sits a 50MP 3x telephoto camera with a 70mm focal length and an f/2.4 aperture. An 8MP ultrawide camera covers a 112-degree field of view.
On the front, there is a 50MP selfie camera with autofocus. TECNO adds an AI zoom of up to 60x and a FlashSnap mode for moving subjects. Other AI tools remove flares, reflections and shadows from photos.
Battery and charging
The battery is rated at 6,500mAh, although TECNO notes that capacity varies by region. Wired charging reaches 45W. In Android Central’s testing, a full charge took about an hour and a half, while 50% took 33 minutes. TECNO says the battery keeps over 80% of its capacity after 1,800 cycles.
Software and updates
The phone runs HiOS 16 based on Android 16. TECNO promises three major Android upgrades and five years of security updates. The software includes the Ella AI assistant, AI MindHub and an AI Health Assistant. Other features include NFC, an IR blaster, stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos and Bluetooth 5.4.
Should you buy the TECNO Camon 50 Ultra 5G?
The Camon 50 Ultra 5G suits buyers who want a 3x telephoto camera and a large battery. Its strong water resistance is another plus at a mid-range price. However, it is sold mainly in Asia, Africa and some European markets, and not in the US. The 45W charging is slow for a 6,500mAh battery. Gamers who need high settings in demanding titles should look at phones with faster chips.
