The Cubot KingKong Ace 5 is a budget rugged phone with a 10,200mAh battery. It also has a hidden ring-shaped camping lamp on the back. Cubot announced it on December 26, 2025, and sales began on January 1, 2026. Its global launch price was $149.99 during an AliExpress launch promotion. The phone comes in a single 8GB + 256GB version and runs Android 16 out of the box.
Design and display
Cubot designed the Ace 5 to be slimmer than a typical rugged phone. The body measures 177.2 x 83.3 x 15.6 mm and weighs 352 grams. It has rounded edges, and a side-mounted fingerprint reader handles unlocking.
The phone carries IP68 and IP69K ratings for water and dust. It also meets MIL-STD-810H, according to Cubot. The front is covered by Corning Gorilla Glass, though Cubot does not name the version.
The 6.745-inch screen has an HD+ resolution of 720 x 1600 pixels. That works out to about 260 pixels per inch. The refresh rate switches between 60Hz, 90Hz and 120Hz.
The main extra feature is the circular camping lamp around the camera module. It stays hidden when it is off. Cubot says it is dozens of times brighter than a regular phone flashlight.
Performance
The KingKong Ace 5 uses the Unisoc T620, a 12nm octa-core chip for 4G phones. It has two Cortex-A75 cores at 2.2GHz and six Cortex-A55 cores at 1.8GHz. The phone has 8GB of RAM, and up to 12GB of storage can work as extra virtual memory. Storage is 256GB, and a microSD card can take the place of the second SIM.
There is no 5G support. Wireless features include dual-band Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth 5.0 and NFC for contactless payments.
Cameras
On the back, there is a 48MP main camera, a 2MP macro camera and a 0.3MP auxiliary sensor. An LED flash sits next to them. The front camera has 16MP. Cubot does not list the sensor sizes or apertures.
Battery and charging
The 10,200mAh battery is the largest part of the phone’s appeal. Cubot rates it for up to 1,250 hours of standby and 75 hours of calls. Wired charging reaches 33W, and a charger is included in the box. Wireless charging is not listed.
Software and updates
The Ace 5 ships with Android 16. Cubot calls it the first rugged phone to launch with this version. However, the company has not published a policy for future Android upgrades or security patches.
Should you buy the KingKong Ace 5?
The KingKong Ace 5 suits buyers who want a long-lasting, water-resistant phone at a low price. The camping lamp is useful outdoors, at work sites and during power outages. The large battery also helps on long trips.
On the other hand, the HD+ screen is low in resolution for its size. The phone also lacks 5G and has a basic camera setup. At 352 grams, it is still heavy, even if it is thinner than many rugged rivals. Buyers who need 5G or better cameras should look at more expensive rugged models.
