The HONOR 400 is a mid-range 5G phone with a 200MP main camera and a large silicon-carbon battery. HONOR announced it on May 22, 2025, and UK sales started the same day. In the UK, it costs £399.99 with 256GB of storage and £449.99 with 512GB. The phone is sold in the UK, Europe and other global markets, but not in the US.
Design and display
The HONOR 400 has a flat 6.55-inch AMOLED display. Its resolution is 2736 x 1264 pixels, or 460 ppi. The refresh rate goes up to 120Hz. HONOR rates the HDR peak brightness at 5,000 nits. For eye comfort, the panel supports 3840Hz PWM dimming.
The phone measures 156.5 x 74.6 x 7.3 mm and weighs about 184 g. It has a matte glass back and an IP65 rating for dust and water jets. However, IP65 does not cover full submersion. Color options are Desert Gold, Midnight Black and Meteor Silver.
Performance
The phone runs on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 with an Adreno 720 GPU. Every model has 8GB of RAM. Storage options are 256GB and 512GB, and there is no microSD slot. The chip handles everyday tasks well. Demanding games, though, run more smoothly at lower graphics settings.
Cameras
The main camera uses a 200MP sensor with a 1/1.4-inch size, an f/1.9 lens and optical image stabilization. Next to it sits a 12MP ultrawide camera with an f/2.2 lens and a 112-degree field of view. There is no telephoto lens. Instead, HONOR relies on digital zoom of up to 30x.
On the front, the HONOR 400 has a 50MP selfie camera with an f/2.0 lens. Both the main and the selfie cameras record video in up to 4K resolution. The phone also offers AI Image to Video, a feature built with Google that turns photos into short clips.
Battery and charging
A 5,300 mAh silicon-carbon battery powers the phone. HONOR says the battery keeps healthy for four years, or 1,200 charge cycles. Wired charging reaches 66W and fills 44% of the battery in about 15 minutes. There is no wireless charging. In the UK, the box includes a USB-C cable but no charger.
Software and updates
The HONOR 400 ships with Android 15 and MagicOS 9.0. HONOR promises six years of Android upgrades and security updates for the phone. Google Gemini and several HONOR AI tools are built in. Other features include NFC, an infrared blaster, stereo speakers, eSIM support, Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.4.
Should you buy the HONOR 400?
The HONOR 400 suits buyers who want a slim phone with a bright screen and a large battery. Its 200MP main camera and six years of updates add long-term value. On the other hand, it lacks wireless charging, a telephoto lens and full water submersion protection. Buyers who need those features should look at the HONOR 400 Pro. Buyers in the US cannot get the phone through official channels.
