The HONOR Magic8 is the standard model of the Magic8 flagship series. HONOR announced it in China on October 15, 2025, and sales started there on October 23. In China, it starts at CNY 4,499 for 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage. Europe got only the Magic8 Pro and Magic8 Lite. The standard Magic8 remains a China-market phone.

Design and display

HONOR pitches the Magic8 as a compact flat-screen flagship. It has a 6.58-inch OLED panel with a resolution of 1256 x 2760 pixels. The LTPO screen refreshes at up to 120 Hz, and HONOR quotes 6,000 nits of HDR peak brightness. It also uses 4320 Hz PWM dimming.

The phone measures 157.12 x 74.03 x 7.95 mm and weighs about 205 g. It carries IP68 and IP69 ratings, plus IP69K under the ISO 20653 standard. The display sits under HONOR’s own drop-resistant glass. A dedicated AI button on the side opens the YOYO assistant. It comes in Sunrise Gold, Celadon, Snow White and Velvet Black.

Performance

The Magic8 runs on the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, the same chip as the Magic8 Pro. Its CPU has two Prime cores at 4.6 GHz and six Performance cores at 3.62 GHz. Graphics come from the Adreno 840 GPU. It comes with 12 GB or 16 GB of RAM and up to 1 TB of storage. There is no microSD slot.

Cameras

The rear setup has three 50 MP-class cameras. The main camera uses a 50 MP 1/1.56-inch sensor with an f/1.9 lens and OIS. Next to it sits a 50 MP ultrawide with a 122-degree field of view and macro focus. A 64 MP periscope telephoto adds 3x optical zoom and its own OIS.

Rear video goes up to 4K at 60 fps. On the front, a 50 MP selfie camera also records 4K at 60 fps. Unlike the Pro, the Magic8 has no 3D face unlock. Instead, it relies on an ultrasonic under-display fingerprint sensor.

Battery and charging

A 7,000 mAh battery powers the phone. It supports 90W wired charging and 80W wireless charging. Reverse wireless charging is also on board. In China, the box includes a HONOR SuperCharge charger, a cable and a case.

Software and updates

The Magic8 ships with MagicOS 10, based on Android 16. HONOR has not published an update promise for this model. Other features include Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6.0, NFC, an IR blaster and stereo speakers. The 1 TB version adds Beidou satellite messaging for China.

Should you buy the Magic8?

The Magic8 suits buyers in China who want flagship power in a smaller flat phone. It pairs a top Snapdragon chip with a large battery and fast wireless charging. However, HONOR does not sell it outside China. Its successor, the Magic9, is already on sale there. Outside China, the Magic8 Pro is the official alternative.
