The Huawei Pura 80 Ultra is the camera-focused flagship of the Pura 80 series. Huawei announced it in China on June 11, 2025, and sales there began on June 26, 2025. The global version launched in July 2025, and it reached Europe in October 2025. In Europe, it costs €1,499 for the only 16GB + 512GB version. The phone is not officially sold in the US.
Design and display
The Pura 80 Ultra has a 6.8-inch LTPO OLED screen with a resolution of 2848 x 1276 pixels. The refresh rate adapts from 1 to 120Hz. Huawei rates peak brightness at 3,000 nits, and the panel uses 1440Hz PWM dimming. Second-generation Crystal Armour Kunlun Glass protects the display.
The body measures 163 x 76.1 x 8.3 mm and weighs about 233.5 grams. It has an aluminum frame and a glazed glass back. The phone carries both IP68 and IP69 ratings. The fingerprint reader sits in the power button.
Performance
Inside is the HiSilicon Kirin 9020 with eight cores and the Maleoon 920 GPU. The fastest core runs at up to 2.5GHz. The global model comes with 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. A 1TB version is sold in China. There is no microSD slot.
The global version supports 4G LTE, but not 5G. It also offers Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.2, NFC, eSIM support and an IR blaster. The USB-C port runs at USB 3.1 Gen 1 speed.
Cameras
The main camera uses a 50MP 1-inch sensor with a variable f/1.6 to f/4.0 aperture and OIS. A 40MP ultrawide camera sits next to it. The telephoto system is the key feature. It switches between a 50MP 3.7x lens and a 12.5MP 9.4x lens. Both share one sensor with sensor-shift stabilization.
A 1.5-million-channel spectral sensor helps with color accuracy. Video recording goes up to 4K on the rear cameras. The front camera has 13MP and autofocus.
Battery and charging
The global model has a 5,170mAh battery (rated value). The China version lists 5,700mAh as its typical capacity. Wired charging reaches 100W with Huawei SuperCharge. Wireless charging reaches 80W with a Huawei stand. The phone also supports reverse wireless charging. A charger comes in the box.
Software and updates
Outside China, the Pura 80 Ultra runs EMUI 15. It has no Google Mobile Services, so apps come from Huawei AppGallery. In China, the phone runs HarmonyOS 5.1 and adds satellite messaging. Huawei has not published an update policy on its product pages.
Should you buy the Pura 80 Ultra?
The Pura 80 Ultra suits buyers who care most about photos and zoom. The 1-inch main camera and the dual-zoom telephoto are its main strengths. Fast wired and wireless charging also stand out. However, the global model lacks 5G and Google services. It is also heavy and expensive. Buyers who rely on Google apps may prefer another flagship.
