The Pura 90s Pro Max is the top model of the Huawei Pura 90 series for global markets. Huawei unveiled it on July 14, 2026, at a launch event in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. In Europe, it starts at €1,149 for the 12GB + 256GB version. In China, the same phone is sold as the Huawei Pura 90 Pro Max, which launched in April 2026. It is a camera-focused flagship built around a 200 MP telephoto camera.
Design and display
The phone has a flat 6.9-inch LTPO OLED screen. Its resolution is 2880 x 1308 at 460 ppi. The refresh rate adapts from 1 to 120 Hz, and the touch sampling rate reaches 300 Hz. Huawei protects the panel with an anti-reflection, scratch-resistant Kunlun Glass. The body uses an aluminum frame and a glass back, with a triangular camera island.
It measures 164 x 77.1 x 8.1 mm and weighs about 230.5 grams. The phone is rated IP68 and IP69 for water and dust resistance. Color options are Blush Gold, Orange Ocean, Blaze Purple and Graphite Black. The Orange Ocean version has a two-tone gradient frame.
Performance
Huawei’s own Kirin 9030S powers the phone. It is an octa-core chip with one core at up to 2.7 GHz and a Maleoon 935F GPU. Every global version has 12GB of RAM, with 256GB or 512GB of storage. There is no microSD slot. Reviewers note that the chip trails the newest Qualcomm and Apple flagship chips in raw speed.
Cameras
The rear setup has three cameras. The 50 MP main camera uses a 1/1.28-inch sensor with a variable f/1.4 to f/4.0 aperture and OIS. Next to it sits a 40 MP ultrawide camera with an f/2.2 aperture.
The 200 MP periscope telephoto camera uses a 1/1.28-inch sensor, an f/2.6 aperture and OIS. It gives 4x optical zoom and up to 100x digital zoom, and it also handles macro shots. A True-to-Colour Camera 2.0 sensor helps with color accuracy. On the front, there is a 13 MP ultrawide selfie camera with autofocus. Both sides record video at up to 4K resolution.
Battery and charging
The battery has a typical capacity of 6000 mAh. In the EU, Huawei lists a rated capacity of 5270 mAh. Wired charging reaches 100 W, and wireless charging reaches 80 W with Huawei’s own chargers. The phone also supports 18 W reverse wired charging and reverse wireless charging.
Software and updates
The global model runs EMUI 16 based on Android 16. Google Mobile Services are not included, so apps come from Huawei AppGallery. The China version runs HarmonyOS 6.1 instead and offers 16GB RAM options and up to 1TB of storage. Huawei has not published a fixed update policy for this phone. Connectivity includes 5G, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6.0, NFC and eSIM.
Should you buy the Pura 90s Pro Max?
The Pura 90s Pro Max suits buyers who care most about zoom and low-light photography. The 200 MP telephoto camera, large battery and fast wired and wireless charging are its main strengths. On the other hand, it lacks Google services, and the Kirin chip is slower than rival flagship chips. It is also not sold in the US.
