The Moto G (2026) is a budget 5G phone from Motorola for the US and Canadian markets. Motorola announced it on November 4, 2025, and US sales started on December 11, 2025. It launched at $199.99 for the only version, with 4GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. In 2026, Motorola raised its US list price for the phone.
Design and display
The 6.7-inch LCD panel has HD+ resolution (1604 x 720) and a 120Hz refresh rate. Motorola rates its peak brightness at 1,000 nits. Corning Gorilla Glass 3 covers the front, while the back has a vegan leather finish.
The body measures 167.15 x 76.40 x 8.44 mm and weighs 202 grams. It carries an IP52 rating, so it can handle light splashes but not submersion. Two Pantone colors are offered: Slipstream, a gray-blue shade, and Cattleya Orchid, a deep purple.
Performance
Inside is the MediaTek Dimensity 6300, a 6 nm chip with two 2.4 GHz Cortex-A76 cores and six Cortex-A55 cores. It pairs with a Mali-G57 MC2 GPU and 4GB of RAM. With RAM Boost, which borrows storage space, memory can expand up to 12GB.
Storage is 128GB, and a microSD slot accepts cards up to 1TB. The SIM setup combines one nano-SIM with an eSIM, and the card slot is separate. Connectivity includes 5G, dual-band Wi-Fi 5, NFC, and a USB-C 2.0 port.
Cameras
The rear setup has two cameras. The main camera uses a 50MP sensor with an f/1.8 aperture and Quad Pixel binning. A 2MP macro camera with an f/2.5 aperture handles close-ups. There is no ultrawide or telephoto lens.
On the front, a 32MP selfie camera sits in a punch-hole cutout. Motorola says this is up from 16MP on the previous model. Both the rear and front cameras record video at up to 1080p and 30 fps.
Battery and charging
The 5,200 mAh battery is larger than the 5,000 mAh cell of the Moto G (2025). Motorola claims up to two days of use per charge. Wired TurboPower charging reaches 30W, but there is no wireless charging. The box includes a USB-C cable, while the charger is sold separately.
Software and updates
The phone ships with Android 16 and Motorola’s Hello UX software. It includes Google Gemini, Circle to Search, Moto Secure, and Family Space. Motorola promises two Android upgrades and three years of security updates for this phone.
For audio, there are stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos and a 3.5 mm headphone jack. A side-mounted fingerprint reader and face unlock handle security.
Should you buy the Moto G (2026)?
The Moto G (2026) suits buyers who want a big screen, long battery life, and a headphone jack for little money. It also keeps microSD expansion, which many rivals have dropped. However, the HD+ panel, 4GB of RAM, and short update policy limit it.
The Moto G Play (2026) uses the same body and chip for less money. Still, it has half the storage, slower 18W charging, and weaker cameras. Buyers who keep a phone for many years may prefer a model with longer software support.
