The Motorola Edge 70 Plus is a mid-range phone announced at IFA in Berlin on September 3, 2026. It went on sale in the UK and Europe on September 23, 2026. In those markets it sells in one 8GB + 256GB version for £529.99 or €599.99. Motorola also lists a 128GB version for some markets. The phone is not sold in the US, so there is no official dollar price.
Design and display
The Edge 70 Plus has a quad-curved design, so the screen and back curve at the edges. The frame is plastic, and the back finish depends on the color. Gray Lilac uses an acetate finish, Mountain View a silk-inspired finish, and Milky Blue a leather-inspired finish. The phone measures 162.7 x 75.7 x 8.49 mm and weighs 196 grams.
The 6.78-inch Extreme AMOLED panel has a resolution of 2772 x 1272 pixels and a 144Hz refresh rate. Motorola rates its peak brightness at 5,200 nits. It supports HDR10 and HDR10+, and Gorilla Glass 7i covers the front. The phone carries an IP64 rating against dust and splashes, so it is not built for submersion. It is also tested to MIL-STD-810H.
Performance
A Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 powers the phone. This 4nm chip has eight cores and an Adreno 810 GPU. Its fastest Cortex-A720 core runs at up to 2.5 GHz. It works with 8GB of LPDDR5X memory and UFS 3.1 storage. A microSD slot adds up to 1TB of extra space. A vapor chamber helps manage heat under load.
Cameras
The rear setup has two cameras. The main camera uses a 200MP sensor with an f/1.8 lens and optical image stabilization. By default it combines 16 pixels into one for 12.5MP photos. A 2MP macro camera handles close-up shots, and there is no ultrawide lens. Motorola lists a 10x digital zoom. On the front, a 32MP selfie camera sits in a punch-hole cutout. Both the main and the front camera record 4K video.
Battery and charging
The battery has a typical capacity of 6,500mAh. Motorola rates it for up to 61 hours of mixed use on one charge. Wired charging reaches 45W with a TurboPower charger, which is not in the UK box. The phone can also charge other devices over a cable at 7.5W. Bypass charging is available in the Gametime mode. There is no wireless charging.
Software and updates
The Edge 70 Plus ships with Android 16 and Google Gemini. Motorola promises five years of security updates, until September 2031. The number of major Android upgrades is not clearly confirmed by Motorola. Other features include NFC, Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 6.0 and Dolby Atmos stereo speakers.
Should you buy the Motorola Edge 70 Plus?
The Edge 70 Plus suits buyers who want a large, bright screen and a big battery. Its 200MP main camera and microSD slot add to that appeal. However, it lacks an ultrawide camera and wireless charging. Its IP64 rating also offers less water protection than IP68 phones. Buyers who care about those points may prefer other options in this price range.
