The OPPO Find X8 Pro is a camera-focused flagship phone with two periscope telephoto lenses. OPPO announced it in China on October 24, 2024, and sales there began on October 30. The global launch followed on November 21, 2024. In Europe, it costs €1,199 with 16 GB of RAM and 512 GB of storage. It is not sold in the US.
Design and display
The phone has a glass back, an aluminum frame and quad-curved glass on both sides. It weighs 215 g and is 8.24 mm thick, while the Pearl White version is 8.34 mm. Each Pearl White unit has its own pearlescent pattern. The 6.78-inch AMOLED display has a 2780 x 1264 resolution, 450 ppi and a 120 Hz LTPO panel.
Brightness reaches 1,600 nits in high brightness mode and 4,500 nits at peak. The screen supports HDR10, HDR10+ and Dolby Vision, and Corning Gorilla Glass 7i covers it. The phone is rated IP68 and IP69. On the right side, a touch-sensitive Quick Button launches the camera and controls zoom.
Performance
The MediaTek Dimensity 9400 powers the Find X8 Pro. The 3 nm chip has a top CPU clock of 3.63 GHz and an Immortalis-G925 MC12 GPU. Memory is LPDDR5X, and storage is UFS 4.0. China also gets 12/256 GB, 12/512 GB and 16 GB/1 TB versions. A satellite messaging edition is sold only in China.
Cameras
The rear system has four 50 MP cameras. The main camera uses a 1/1.4-inch Sony LYT-808 sensor, an f/1.6 lens and optical stabilization. A 15 mm ultrawide camera with autofocus sits beside it. Then come two periscope telephoto cameras, at 3x (73 mm) and 6x (135 mm), both with optical stabilization.
OPPO says this is the first globally available phone with two periscope cameras. All rear cameras and the 32 MP front camera record 4K Dolby Vision video at 60 fps. AI Telescope Zoom extends the reach up to 60x.
Battery and charging
The Find X8 Pro has a 5,910 mAh silicon-carbon battery. It charges at 80 W with a cable and at 50 W wirelessly. It also offers 10 W reverse wireless charging. However, European units ship without a charger, while some other markets include one.
Software and updates
The phone launched with ColorOS 15 based on Android 15. OPPO promises five major Android updates and six years of security patches. Google Gemini, Circle to Search and OPPO AI editing tools come built in. In addition, Touch to Share sends files to iPhones with a tap.
Should you buy the OPPO Find X8 Pro?
The Find X8 Pro suits buyers who want long zoom range, with dedicated 3x and 6x lenses. Its large battery, fast wireless charging and IP69 rating add to its appeal. On the downside, it is not sold in the US, and European buyers must buy a charger separately. OPPO has since released the Find X9 Pro as its successor. Buyers who prefer a smaller phone with one telephoto lens can consider the Find X8.
