The POCO F8 Ultra is the top model of the POCO F8 series. POCO announced it on November 26, 2025, at a launch event in Bali, and sales started the same day. It launched at $729 for the 12GB/256GB version. In Europe, the official price was €829.99. It is a large flagship with a focus on performance, battery life and audio. In China, the same phone is sold as the REDMI K90 Pro Max. In September 2026, POCO launched the F9 Ultra as its successor.
Design and display
The phone has an aluminum alloy frame and comes in two finishes. The Black version uses a glass fiber back. The Denim Blue version has a textured back made from Xiaomi’s third-generation nano-tech material, not real denim. As a result, the Black model is 7.9 mm thick and weighs 218 g. The Denim Blue model is 8.3 mm thick and weighs 220 g. The phone is rated IP68 for dust and water resistance.
The front has a 6.9-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 2608 x 1200 pixels. It refreshes at up to 120 Hz and reaches 3,500 nits of peak brightness. The panel supports HDR10+ and Dolby Vision. POCO Shield Glass protects the screen. However, the panel does not use LTPO technology.
Performance
Inside is the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, built on a 3 nm process. Its CPU pairs two prime cores at 4.6 GHz with six performance cores at 3.6 GHz. In addition, POCO adds its VisionBoost D8 chip for game frame interpolation and upscaling. The phone offers 12GB or 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 256GB or 512GB of UFS 4.1 storage. There is no microSD slot. A 3D IceLoop vapor chamber handles cooling.
Cameras
The rear has three 50 MP cameras. The main camera uses the Light Fusion 950 sensor with a 1/1.31-inch size, an f/1.67 aperture and OIS. Next to it sits a 5x periscope telephoto with a 115 mm equivalent focal length and OIS. According to POCO, this is the first periscope camera in the series. A 50 MP ultrawide with an 18 mm equivalent focal length completes the setup. The rear cameras record up to 8K at 30 fps. On the front, a 32 MP selfie camera records 4K video at 30 fps.
Battery and charging
The phone uses a 6,500 mAh silicon-carbon battery. POCO calls it the largest battery in the F series so far. It supports 100W wired and 50W wireless charging. It can also charge other devices over the cable at up to 22.5W. In Europe and the UK, the box has no charger, while POCO says the contents vary by region. The REDMI K90 Pro Max for China has a larger 7,560 mAh battery.
Software and updates
The POCO F8 Ultra ships with Android 16 and Xiaomi HyperOS 3. POCO promises four major Android updates and six years of security patches. Other features include Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6.0, NFC, an IR blaster and dual SIM with eSIM support. Stereo speakers with a separate subwoofer are tuned with Bose.
Should you buy the POCO F8 Ultra?
The POCO F8 Ultra suits buyers who want a flagship chip, a large screen and a big battery. It also costs less than most rivals. Its 5x periscope camera and wireless charging add flexibility. On the other hand, it is not officially sold in the US. Its update period is also shorter than some rivals offer. It also uses a non-LTPO panel. Buyers who want the newest model can look at the POCO F9 Ultra.
