The REDMI 15 5G is a budget 5G phone from REDMI built around a 7,000 mAh battery. Xiaomi launched it in Malaysia on August 8, 2025, and it later reached India and Europe. In Germany, Xiaomi’s own store lists the 8 GB + 256 GB model at €249.90. A 4G version called the REDMI 15 is also sold. In India, the same phone is sold as the POCO M7 Plus. In China, it is sold as the REDMI Note 15R.
Design and display
The REDMI 15 5G has a 6.9-inch FHD+ LCD panel. Its 2340 x 1080 resolution gives 374 ppi. The refresh rate goes up to 144 Hz, and the touch sampling rate reaches 288 Hz. Brightness is 700 nits typical and 850 nits in high brightness mode. The plastic body has a curved back and an aluminum alloy camera trim. It is rated IP64 for dust and splash resistance. Xiaomi lists it at 169.48 x 80.45 x 8.40 mm and 217 g.
Performance
The phone runs on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 6s Gen 3. This 6 nm chip has two Cortex-A78 cores at up to 2.3 GHz and an Adreno 619 GPU. It comes with 4 or 8 GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 128 or 256 GB of UFS 2.2 storage. A microSD slot adds up to 2 TB, but it shares space with the second SIM. Compared with the 4G REDMI 15, it adds 5G and a faster chip. It also uses Bluetooth 5.1 instead of 5.0. The display, battery, charging and cameras are the same on both phones.
Cameras
The rear setup pairs a 50 MP main camera with an f/1.8 lens and a second auxiliary lens. There is no ultrawide or telephoto camera. The front camera has 8 MP and an f/2.0 lens. Both cameras record video at up to 1080p at 30 fps. AI Erase and Dynamic shots work only on the 8 GB RAM version.
Battery and charging
The battery is a 7,000 mAh silicon-carbon cell. Xiaomi rates it for 1,600 charge cycles before capacity drops below 80%. Wired charging reaches 33 W, but no charger comes in the box. The phone can also charge other devices over the cable at up to 18 W. There is no wireless charging.
Software and updates
The REDMI 15 5G ships with Xiaomi HyperOS 2 based on Android 15. Xiaomi promises two Android upgrades, up to Android 17. Security updates are promised until 2031, six years after launch. Gemini and Circle to Search are built in. Other features include NFC, an IR blaster, a side fingerprint reader and Wi-Fi 5.
Should you buy the REDMI 15 5G?
The REDMI 15 5G suits budget buyers who want 5G, a big screen and very long battery life. The long security update window is another plus at this price. However, it has a mono speaker, a plastic body and only one useful rear camera. Video tops out at 1080p, so it is not a phone for filming.
