The Samsung Galaxy A27 5G is a mid-range Android phone in the Galaxy A series. Samsung announced it on June 25, 2026, as the follow-up to the Galaxy A26 5G. Sales began in early July 2026, and the US launch followed on July 14. In the US, the phone starts at $349.99 for a single 6 GB + 128 GB version in Black. In Europe, it starts at €349.
Design and display
The phone has a 6.7-inch Super AMOLED screen with a 1080 x 2340 resolution. It refreshes at up to 120 Hz. Samsung replaced the notch with an Infinity-O design. The front camera now sits in a small punch hole. The bezels are also slimmer and more even.
The body measures 162.4 x 78.2 x 7.8 mm and weighs 200 g. Corning Gorilla Glass Victus+ covers both the front and the back. The phone is rated IP64, which means it is dust-tight and resists splashes. However, it is not rated for submersion, unlike the IP67-rated Galaxy A26 5G.
Performance
Instead of an Exynos chip, the Galaxy A27 5G uses the Snapdragon 6 Gen 3. This 4 nm octa-core chip pairs four cores at 2.4 GHz with four cores at 1.8 GHz. Samsung says the switch brings a boost in GPU performance and faster memory.
The phone comes with 6 GB or 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB or 256 GB of storage. Moreover, a hybrid slot accepts microSD cards of up to 2 TB. However, a card takes the place of the second SIM.
Cameras
On the back, there are three cameras. The main one has 50 MP, an f/1.8 lens and optical image stabilization. It is joined by a 5 MP ultrawide camera and a 2 MP macro camera. The ultrawide resolution dropped from 8 MP on the Galaxy A26 5G.
On the front, a new 12 MP selfie camera replaces the older one, and Samsung promises better HDR. The rear cameras record video at up to 4K and 30 fps.
Battery and charging
The Galaxy A27 5G has a 5,000 mAh battery. According to Samsung, it lasts up to 23 hours of video playback. Wired charging tops out at 25 W, and Samsung says the phone reaches 45% in 30 minutes. There is no wireless charging.
Software and updates
The phone ships with Android 16 and One UI 8.5. Samsung promises six generations of Android and One UI upgrades. It also promises six years of security updates, and the UK store lists support until July 31, 2032.
In addition, the phone supports Circle to Search, Google Gemini and Perplexity as AI assistants. Bixby now works as a conversational device agent. Samsung Knox Vault protects sensitive data at the hardware level.
Should you buy the Samsung Galaxy A27 5G?
The Galaxy A27 5G suits buyers who want a large 120 Hz AMOLED screen at a mid-range price. It also fits people who keep a phone for many years. Expandable storage is a plus for people who keep many photos and videos.
On the other hand, the phone loses some features of its predecessor. Water resistance is lower, the ultrawide camera has fewer pixels, and Bluetooth drops from 5.3 to 5.1. Charging is also limited to 25 W. Buyers who need submersion protection may prefer the Galaxy A37 5G, which has an IP68 rating.
