The Samsung Galaxy A18 is a budget 4G phone in the Galaxy A lineup. Samsung announced it on September 15, 2026, and it went on sale in France the same day. In Europe, it costs €279 for the 4 GB + 128 GB version. So far, Samsung has not announced a 5G version of the phone.
Design and display
The phone has a flat frame with rounded corners. On the back, three cameras sit in a vertical row. It measures 164.4 x 77.9 x 7.7 mm and weighs 196 g. Samsung offers it in Black, Silver and Light Blue, although some markets call the silver model Gray.
The front uses a 6.7-inch Super AMOLED panel with a 1080 x 2340 resolution and a 90Hz refresh rate. A waterdrop notch holds the selfie camera. Gorilla Glass 3 covers the screen, and the body carries an IP64 rating against dust and water splashes. The previous Galaxy A17 had an IP54 rating.
Performance
Inside is the Exynos 1610, a new Samsung chip. It has two cores at 2.4 GHz and six at 2.0 GHz. It replaces the MediaTek Helio G99 of the Galaxy A17. The phone comes with 4 GB of LPDDR5 RAM and RAM Plus, which borrows storage as virtual memory.
Samsung lists 64 GB, 128 GB and 256 GB storage options, though availability varies by market. A microSD slot takes cards up to 2 TB, but it shares space with the second SIM. The phone supports 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth 5.3 and NFC.
Cameras
The rear setup includes a 50 MP main camera with an f/1.8 lens and autofocus. It works with a 5 MP ultrawide camera and a 2 MP macro camera. Samsung’s spec sheet lists no optical stabilization. Video recording tops out at 1080p at 30 fps, with 120 fps slow motion in HD. On the front, there is a 13 MP selfie camera.
Battery and charging
A 5,000 mAh battery powers the phone. It supports 25W wired charging, and Samsung says this adds 50% in about 30 minutes. There is no wireless charging. Samsung also rates the battery for at least 1,200 full charge cycles in the EU.
Software and updates
The Galaxy A18 ships with Android 17 and One UI 9. Samsung promises six OS upgrades and six years of security updates. Security support runs until October 2032. Circle to Search and Gemini are available, and Knox Vault protects sensitive data.
Should you buy the Galaxy A18?
The Galaxy A18 suits buyers who want a large AMOLED screen and a microSD slot. It also offers very long software support at a low price. The IP64 rating also adds some protection for daily use. However, it has only 4 GB of RAM, no 5G and no stereo speakers. Buyers who need 5G should look at the Galaxy A17 5G or wait for a possible Galaxy A18 5G.
