The Sony Xperia 10 VIII is a compact mid-range Android phone from Sony. Sony announced it on August 25, 2026. It went on sale in the UK and Europe in late September 2026. In Europe, it costs €599 for the only version with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. Sony does not sell it in the US. In Japan, it arrives on October 8, 2026, through docomo, au and SoftBank.
Design and display
The phone measures 153 x 72 x 8.3 mm and weighs 168 g. Its rear panel uses a transparent material with a matte clear coating, which Sony calls a translucent layer design. The body is rated IP65 and IP68 for dust and water resistance.
The 6.1-inch OLED screen has a 2340 x 1080 resolution and a 120 Hz refresh rate. There is no notch or punch-hole, because the selfie camera sits in the top bezel. Sony says the panel is about 50% brighter than on the Xperia 10 VII. However, Notebookcheck found no HDR video support. Gorilla Glass Victus 2 protects the front.
Performance
The Xperia 10 VIII keeps the Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 from its predecessor. This 4 nm chip has four Cortex-A78 cores at 2.4 GHz and four Cortex-A55 cores at 1.8 GHz. Graphics run on an Adreno 710 GPU. It comes with 8GB of RAM, and up to 6GB of virtual RAM can be added. Storage is fixed at 128GB, but a microSD card of up to 2TB can be used.
Cameras
The camera hardware is carried over from the Xperia 10 VII. The main camera uses a 50 MP, 1/1.56-inch Exmor RS sensor. It has an f/1.9 lens and optical stabilization. A 2x crop from this sensor gives a 48 mm view. Next to it sits a 13 MP ultrawide camera with a 123-degree field of view. On the front, there is an 8 MP selfie camera. A dedicated shutter button launches the camera, even when the screen is off. Video recording goes up to 4K at 30 fps.
Battery and charging
The 5,000 mAh battery is rated by Sony for up to two days of use. Sony also says the battery keeps its performance after four years of charging. The phone supports USB Power Delivery fast charging, but Sony does not state a wattage. In Notebookcheck’s test, it charged at up to 22 W and reached 100% in about 69 minutes. There is no wireless charging, and no charger comes in the box.
Software and updates
The phone ships with Android 16 and a near-stock interface. Sony promises up to four Android upgrades and up to six years of security updates. A new Rewards & Pay menu opens payment and loyalty apps with a double press of the power button. Google features such as Circle to Search and Gemini are included.
Should you buy the Xperia 10 VIII?
The Xperia 10 VIII suits buyers who want a light 6.1-inch phone with rare extras. It keeps a 3.5 mm headphone jack, a microSD slot, front stereo speakers and a physical shutter button. It also has a long security update window. On the other hand, it reuses the chip and cameras of the Xperia 10 VII and uses USB 2.0. In addition, its European price rose from €449 to €599. Buyers who mainly want more speed can find faster chips at a similar price.
