The TCL NXTPAPER 60 Ultra is a large-screen mid-range phone built around reading and note-taking. TCL announced it on September 4, 2025, at IFA in Berlin. It went on sale in Europe in September 2025, and it later reached markets in Latin America and Asia-Pacific. In Europe, it starts at €449 for the 256GB model. TCL does not sell it in the US.
Design and display
The main feature is a 7.2-inch LCD with a 120Hz refresh rate. Its resolution is 2340 x 1080 pixels. It is the first TCL phone with NXTPAPER 4.0. This matte, anti-glare panel uses circularly polarized light and DC dimming. Brightness can drop to 2 nits for night reading. A dedicated NXTPAPER Key on the side switches between normal, Color Paper, Ink Paper and Max Ink modes.
The body is 7.57 mm thin and weighs 227 g. It carries an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance. The phone also supports the T-Pen Magic stylus, with 4,096 pressure levels and latency down to 5 ms. Magnetic modular accessories are available too. The fingerprint reader sits on the side.
Performance
Inside is a MediaTek Dimensity 7400, a 4nm-class chip with four Cortex-A78 cores at up to 2.6GHz. It is paired with 12GB of RAM and 256GB or 512GB of storage. TCL also offers up to 12GB of virtual RAM expansion. The phone supports 5G, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.4 and NFC.
Cameras
The rear setup has three cameras. The main sensor has 50MP, an f/1.8 lens and optical image stabilization. A 50MP periscope telephoto adds 3x optical zoom, also with OIS. An 8MP ultrawide completes the set. Selfies are handled by a 32MP front camera with an f/2.0 lens.
Battery and charging
The NXTPAPER 60 Ultra has a 5,200mAh battery. It supports 33W wired charging, and TCL says it reaches 50% in 30 minutes. The phone can also charge other devices with 10W of reverse wired power. There is no wireless charging. According to TCL, Max Ink Mode can stretch use to up to 7 days.
Software and updates
The phone launched with Android 15. TCL promises three major OS upgrades and seven years of security updates. Built-in AI tools focus on reading and writing. Examples include AI Audiobook, AI Podcast, AI Outline and handwriting-to-text in TCL Note. Google features like Circle to Search are also available.
Should you buy the NXTPAPER 60 Ultra?
The NXTPAPER 60 Ultra suits people who read books, documents or comics on their phone for hours. Its matte screen, ink modes and stylus support make it a phone and e-reader in one device. The IP68 rating and periscope zoom camera add value at this price. On the other hand, the Dimensity 7400 is a mid-range chip, and the screen is LCD rather than OLED. Buyers who want wireless charging or a compact phone should look elsewhere.
