The vivo X200 Pro is a camera-focused flagship phone. vivo announced it in China on October 14, 2024, and it went on sale there on October 19. The global launch started in Malaysia on November 19, 2024. In Europe, it costs €1,299 for the 16 GB + 512 GB version. The phone is not officially sold in the US.
Design and display
The X200 Pro has a 6.78-inch AMOLED screen with a 2800 x 1260 resolution. vivo calls it the ZEISS Master Color Display. It uses an 8T LTPO panel, so the refresh rate moves between 0.1 Hz and 120 Hz. Local peak brightness reaches 4,500 nits, and PWM dimming runs at 2160 Hz.
Armor Glass protects the screen. The body carries both IP68 and IP69 ratings. It measures 162.36 x 75.95 x 8.49 mm and weighs 228 g in Titanium Gray. The Carbon Black version is slightly thinner and lighter, with a glass fiber back.
Performance
The phone runs on the MediaTek Dimensity 9400, a 3 nm chip with an Immortalis-G925 GPU. The global model comes with 16 GB of RAM and 512 GB of UFS 4.0 storage. There is no microSD slot. vivo also adds its own V3+ imaging chip for camera processing.
Cameras
The main camera uses a 50 MP Sony LYT-818 sensor with a 1/1.28-inch size and an f/1.57 lens. Next to it sits a 200 MP ZEISS APO telephoto camera. It has a 1/1.4-inch sensor, an 85 mm focal length and a periscope design. Both of these cameras have optical stabilization. A 50 MP ultrawide camera completes the setup.
On the front, there is a 32 MP selfie camera. The rear cameras record up to 8K video. vivo also lists 4K at 60 fps with Dolby Vision HDR and 10-bit Log recording.
Battery and charging
The global X200 Pro has a 6,000 mAh battery with a third-generation silicon anode. It supports 90W wired charging, and the charger comes in the box. In some markets, vivo also lists 30W wireless charging with its own wireless charger. However, versions for Austria, Hungary and Germany have a smaller 5,200 mAh battery.
Software and updates
Outside China, the phone ships with Funtouch OS 15 based on Android 15. vivo promises four Android version upgrades and five years of security updates. Other features include an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor, stereo speakers, NFC, an IR blaster and a fast USB 3.2 port.
Should you buy the vivo X200 Pro?
The X200 Pro suits buyers who want a long-range telephoto camera and a large battery. Its IP68 and IP69 ratings add extra protection against water and dust. On the other hand, it is only sold in some markets, and the US is not among them. Also, the direct successor, the X300 Pro, is already available.
