The vivo X500 Pro Max is the top model of the vivo X500 series. vivo announced it in China on September 21, 2026, and sales there began on September 24. In China, it starts at CNY 6,999 for 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. A European launch event is set for October 27, 2026. The phone takes over the role of the X300 Pro as the large flagship with a 200MP zoom camera.
Design and display
The phone uses an aluminum frame and a large round camera module on the back. Three colors have a glass back, while the black version is slightly thinner and lighter. It is rated IP68 and IP69 for dust and water resistance. The Pro Max also has an extra button on the left edge.
The front has a 6.85-inch AMOLED panel from BOE with a resolution of 3168 x 1440 pixels. It refreshes from 1 to 144Hz thanks to LTPO technology. vivo lists a peak brightness of 4,400 nits at 20% of the screen. Full-screen peak brightness is 2,000 nits.
Performance
Inside is the MediaTek Dimensity 9600 Pro, built on a 2nm process. Its eight CPU cores reach up to 4.55 GHz, and the GPU is the Mali-G2-Ultra-NX. The chip is paired with LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.1 storage. Buyers can choose 12GB or 16GB of RAM and 256GB, 512GB, or 1TB of storage.
Cameras
The rear setup has three ZEISS-branded cameras. The main camera uses a 50MP 1/1.28-inch sensor with an f/1.57 lens and optical stabilization. Next to it sits a 200MP telephoto camera with a 1/1.4-inch sensor. Its 85mm equivalent lens gives 3.5x optical zoom. A 50MP ultrawide camera and a multi-zone laser focus sensor complete the system.
For video, vivo lists 4K slow motion at 240fps and 4K 120fps 10-bit Log. Recording goes up to 8K. On the front, there is a 50MP selfie camera. Optional add-ons include 200mm and 400mm equivalent telephoto extenders and a camera grip.
Battery and charging
The Chinese model packs an 8,000mAh battery with fifth-generation silicon anode technology. It supports 90W wired and 40W wireless charging. In addition, a charger is included in the box in China. European versions may use a smaller battery, but vivo has not confirmed the European specs yet.
Software and updates
The X500 Pro Max ships with OriginOS 7 based on Android 17. vivo has not yet published an update policy for this model. Moreover, the Chinese version is built around local services and does not come with Google apps.
Should you buy the vivo X500 Pro Max?
The phone suits buyers who want a large flagship with a strong focus on zoom photography and video. Its big battery and fast wired and wireless charging also stand out. However, it is currently sold only in China. Buyers in Europe may want to wait for the global version and its final specs and prices.
