Design and display
The X300 FE has a flat design with a metal frame and a glass back. Its camera module sits in a horizontal strip across the top of the back. The body measures 150.83 x 71.76 x 7.99 mm and weighs 191 g. It is rated IP68 and IP69 for dust and water resistance.
The 6.31-inch AMOLED screen has a 2640 x 1216 resolution and 460 ppi. Its refresh rate adapts from 1 Hz to 120 Hz. vivo quotes 5,000 nits of local peak brightness and 2160 Hz PWM dimming. An ultrasonic fingerprint sensor sits under the display.
Performance
The phone runs on the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5, a 3 nm chip. It has two 3.8 GHz cores and six 3.32 GHz cores. It is not the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 used in the X300 Ultra. Most markets get 12GB of LPDDR5X Ultra RAM with 256GB or 512GB of UFS 4.1 storage. India also has an 8GB + 256GB version. There is no microSD slot.
Cameras
The rear has three cameras with ZEISS branding on global models. The main camera uses a 50 MP Sony IMX921 sensor with an f/1.57 lens and OIS. A 50 MP periscope telephoto uses a 1/1.95-inch Sony IMX882 sensor with 3x optical zoom and OIS. An 8 MP ultrawide camera completes the setup.
The phone also works with the optional vivo ZEISS Telephoto Extender Gen 2. This lens gives a 200 mm equivalent focal length. It is the first FE model to support it. The rear cameras record up to 8K at 30 fps or 4K at 120 fps. On the front, a 50 MP autofocus camera records up to 4K at 60 fps.
Battery and charging
The phone has a 6,500 mAh battery, which is large for its size. It supports 90W wired and 40W wireless FlashCharge, plus bypass charging. Global and Indian models include a charger in the box. The European box, however, has only a USB cable.
Software and updates
The X300 FE ships with OriginOS 6 based on Android 16. vivo promises five major Android updates and seven years of security updates. Other features include Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6.0, NFC, an IR blaster and stereo speakers. The USB-C port runs at USB 2.0 speed.
Should you buy the vivo X300 FE?
The X300 FE suits buyers who want a small phone with a very large battery. It also fits people who shoot distant subjects, thanks to the 3x periscope and the extender support. Buyers who need fast USB transfers or a 200 MP main camera should look at the vivo X300 instead. US buyers will need an imported unit.
