The HONOR Magic V5 is a book-style foldable phone. HONOR announced it in China on July 2, 2025. The rollout to the UK and Europe followed in late August 2025. In Europe, it costs €1,999, and the UK price is £1,699.99. It competes with the Galaxy Z Fold7 in the premium foldable segment.
Design and display
The Ivory White version is 8.8 mm thick when folded and 4.1 mm when open. It weighs about 217 grams. The Black and Dawn Gold versions measure 9 mm folded and weigh about 222 grams. The hinge uses HONOR Super Steel and is rated for 500,000 folds.
The inner screen is a 7.95-inch foldable OLED panel. The cover screen measures 6.43 inches. Both panels use 120 Hz LTPO technology and reach 5,000 nits of HDR peak brightness. Both screens also support the HONOR Magic Pen. The phone carries IP58 and IP59 ratings for dust and water protection.
Performance
Inside is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite, built on a 3 nm process. It has two prime cores at 4.32 GHz and six performance cores at 3.53 GHz. The GPU is the Adreno 830. The global model comes with 16 GB of RAM and 512 GB of storage. There is no microSD slot.
Cameras
The rear setup combines three cameras. The 50 MP main camera has an f/1.6 aperture and optical stabilization. A 64 MP periscope telephoto adds 3x optical zoom with OIS. The 50 MP ultrawide covers a 122-degree view. Each screen has a 20 MP selfie camera. Video recording goes up to 4K on the rear and front cameras.
Battery and charging
The battery is rated at 5,820 mAh. HONOR uses silicon-carbon cells with more than 15 percent silicon content. Wired charging reaches 66 W, and wireless charging reaches 50 W. The box has a cable and a case, but no charger.
Software and updates
The phone ships with MagicOS 9.0.1 based on Android 15. In the EU and UK, it gets seven years of Android and security updates. Google Gemini is built in, along with HONOR’s own AI tools. Other features include Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6.0, NFC, an IR blaster and stereo speakers. A fingerprint reader sits in the power button.
Should you buy the Magic V5?
The Magic V5 fits buyers who want a thin foldable with a large battery and strong water protection. The long update promise in Europe adds value over time. A newer model, the Magic V6, is now on sale. The V5 is not sold in the US, so US buyers rely on import listings.
