The HONOR Magic8 Lite is a mid-range phone built around durability and battery life. HONOR announced it on December 8, 2025, and sales in the UK and Europe started in January 2026. It comes with 8GB of RAM and 256GB or 512GB of storage. HONOR does not sell it in the US. In Southeast Asia and the Middle East, the same phone is sold as the HONOR X9d. That version has a larger 8,300 mAh battery.
Design and display
The phone has a 6.79-inch AMOLED screen with a 2640 x 1200 resolution. It runs at up to 120Hz with an adaptive refresh rate. HONOR rates its peak brightness at 6,000 nits for HDR video. The panel also uses 3,840Hz PWM dimming to reduce flicker. Aluminosilicate glass covers the display.
The body measures 7.76mm thick and weighs about 189 grams. The frame is plastic, and the camera sits in a large round module on the back. HONOR lists IP66, IP68, IP69 and IP69K ratings. It also says the phone survived 2.5-meter drops onto granite in its own lab tests. Colors are Midnight Black, Forest Green and Reddish Brown.
Performance
Inside is the Snapdragon 6 Gen 4, a 4nm chip. It has one core at 2.3GHz, three at 2.2GHz and four efficiency cores. The GPU is the Adreno 810. Every version has 8GB of RAM. There is no microSD card slot, so pick the storage size carefully. Reviewers found everyday speed fine, but demanding games need low settings.
Cameras
The rear has two cameras. The main one uses a 108MP sensor with an f/1.75 lens and optical image stabilization. A 5MP ultra-wide camera sits next to it. The main camera records 4K video at 30 fps. On the front, a 16MP selfie camera records video at up to 1080p. HONOR also adds an underwater photo mode and AI editing tools such as object removal.
Battery and charging
The silicon-carbon battery has a typical capacity of 7,500 mAh. HONOR claims up to three days of use on one charge. Wired charging reaches 66W, but there is no wireless charging. The phone can charge other devices over a cable. The box includes a USB-C cable but no charger.
Software and updates
The phone launched with MagicOS 9.0 based on Android 15. In the EU, HONOR promises six years of OS and security updates. Buyers in other regions get a shorter two-year promise. Google Gemini is built in, along with HONOR’s own AI tools.
Should you buy the Magic8 Lite?
The Magic8 Lite suits buyers in Europe who want a tough phone with long battery life. Its water and drop protection is rare at this price. The large battery is another strong point. However, the ultra-wide camera is weak, and the chip is modest for heavy gaming. The plastic frame and missing wireless charging may also matter to some buyers. If durability and endurance come first, it is worth a look.
