The Huawei Mate 80 Pro is a flagship phone with a 6.75-inch OLED screen and a 5,750 mAh battery. Huawei announced it in China on November 25, 2025, and sales there began on November 28. The international version followed at a launch event in Madrid on February 26, 2026. In China, prices start at CNY 5,999 for the 12 GB + 256 GB model. In Malaysia, the only international configuration costs RM 3,999.
Design and display
The phone keeps the round Mate camera module and adds a second ring on the back. The global version comes in Gold, Green, and Black. It pairs a vegan fibre back with second-generation Kunlun Glass on the front. It measures 161.85 x 76 x 7.95 mm and weighs about 219 grams.
The 6.75-inch LTPO OLED panel has a resolution of 2832 x 1280 pixels, or 460 ppi. Its refresh rate adapts from 1 Hz to 120 Hz. Huawei quotes a peak brightness of 3,000 nits and 1440 Hz PWM dimming. The body is rated IP68 and IP69 for dust and water resistance.
Performance
The international model has 16 GB of RAM and 512 GB of storage. It runs on the Kirin 9030 Pro, the same chip as the Mate 80 Pro Max. In China, the 12 GB versions use the regular Kirin 9030 instead. Huawei claims up to 21% higher overall performance than the Mate 70 Pro. There is no microSD card slot.
Cameras
The rear setup has three cameras plus a separate color sensor. The 50 MP main camera uses a 1/1.28-inch RYYB sensor with an f/1.4 to f/4.0 variable aperture and OIS. Next to it sit a 40 MP ultrawide camera and a 48 MP macro telephoto camera. The telephoto lens offers 4x optical zoom, f/2.1, and OIS. Both the rear cameras and the 13 MP front camera record 4K video. A 3D depth sensor on the front enables secure face unlock.
Battery and charging
The 5,750 mAh battery supports 100W wired charging with a Huawei SuperCharge adapter. Wireless charging reaches 80W, but only with Huawei’s own 80W wireless stands. The Chinese specs also list reverse wired and wireless charging. Whether the charger is in the box depends on the market.
Software and updates
The international model runs EMUI 15.0, which is based on Android. It does not include Google services, so apps come from Huawei AppGallery or the web. The Chinese model runs HarmonyOS 6.0 instead. Huawei has not published a fixed number of years of OS upgrades for this phone. The global model is also 4G only, while the Chinese version supports 5G and Beidou satellite messages.
Should you buy the Mate 80 Pro?
The Mate 80 Pro suits buyers who want a durable phone with fast wired and wireless charging. Its IP68 and IP69 ratings and large battery are clear strengths. However, the global version lacks 5G and Google services. It is also not officially sold in the US or the European Union. There, the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra or the Xiaomi 17 Ultra may be easier to use.
