The Huawei nova 14 Pro is an upper mid-range phone built around its cameras. Huawei announced it in China on May 19, 2025, and sales there began on May 23. A global version followed later in 2025. In Europe, it costs €699 with 12GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. Outside China, the phone supports 4G only and ships without Google Mobile Services.
Design and display
The nova 14 Pro has a 6.78-inch OLED screen with a resolution of 2776 x 1224 pixels. Its LTPO panel adjusts the refresh rate from 1Hz to 120Hz. Huawei rates the peak brightness at 1,200 nits. The body measures 163.4 x 75.0 x 7.78 mm and weighs about 207 grams.
The back has an ice crystal texture, and the round camera module sits in the upper corner. Reviews report an IP65 rating, so the phone resists dust and splashes but should not be submerged. The fingerprint reader is built into the power button.
Performance
The global specifications list the Kirin 8020 octa-core processor. In Geekbench 6, retail units score around 1,280 points in single-core and 4,090 points in multi-core tests. Notebookcheck found that graphics performance trails similarly priced rivals. Global models come with 12GB of RAM and up to 512GB of storage, with no microSD slot.
Cameras
The main camera has a 50MP RYYB sensor with a variable aperture from f/1.4 to f/4.0 and optical stabilization. A 12MP telephoto camera offers 3x optical zoom, and an 8MP ultrawide camera doubles as a macro lens. Huawei also adds a color sensor with 1.5 million spectral channels.
The front has two cameras. A 50MP autofocus camera handles regular selfies, while an 8MP camera covers close-up portraits. Both the rear and front cameras record video at up to 4K resolution.
Battery and charging
The global model has a 5,500mAh battery with a rated capacity of 5,400mAh. However, the European version uses a smaller 5,100mAh rated battery. Wired charging reaches 100W with Huawei’s SuperCharge adapter. The phone does not support wireless charging.
Software and updates
Outside China, the nova 14 Pro runs EMUI 15. Apps come from Huawei AppGallery instead of Google Play. The China version runs HarmonyOS 5 and supports 5G. Huawei has not published an update period for this phone.
Other features include Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.2, NFC and an IR blaster. The phone also has stereo speakers but no headphone jack.
Should you buy the nova 14 Pro?
The nova 14 Pro suits buyers who care most about photos and selfies. Its variable-aperture main camera and dual front cameras are rare at this price. The 100W charging is also fast.
However, the global model lacks 5G and Google apps, and Huawei promises no update period. Buyers who need these features should look at the HONOR 400 Pro or the Xiaomi 15T instead.
