The Huawei Pura 90 is the base model of the Pura 90 series. Huawei announced it in China on April 20, 2026, with the Pro and Pro Max. Sales in China began in May 2026. The price starts at 4,699 yuan for 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB. The phone is sold only in China. The global Pura 90s series that launched in July 2026 includes only the Pro and Pro Max models.
Design and display
The Pura 90 is 7.0 mm thin and weighs about 210 grams. Its rear camera module has an inverted triangle shape, which sets it apart from the Pro models. The phone carries IP68 and IP69 ratings, so it can survive 2 meters of water and high-pressure jets.
On the front, there is a flat 6.8-inch OLED screen. It has 2856 x 1320 pixels and 460 ppi. The LTPO panel adjusts its refresh rate from 1 Hz to 120 Hz. In addition, Huawei uses its own Kunlun Glass for protection. A pill-shaped cutout holds the selfie camera and a color sensor.
Performance
The phone runs on the Kirin 9010S, the same chip as in the Pura 80. Even so, Huawei says overall performance is 15% higher than on the Pura 80. The company measured this in its own lab with newer software. Buyers can choose 12 GB or 16 GB of RAM and 256 GB or 512 GB of storage. There is no memory card slot.
Cameras
The rear setup has three cameras. The main one has 50 MP, an f/1.8 lens and optical stabilization. Next to it sits a 12.5 MP ultrawide camera with an f/2.2 lens. The third is a 50 MP periscope telephoto with an f/2.2 lens, OIS and 3.7x optical zoom. Digital zoom goes up to 100x. A separate Red Maple color camera helps with accurate colors.
The front camera also has 50 MP, with an f/2.0 lens and autofocus. Both the rear and front cameras record 4K video. The rear camera also offers 1080p slow motion at 480 fps.
Battery and charging
The Pura 90 has the largest battery in the series: 6,500 mAh. That is more than the Pro and Pro Max models offer. It supports 100 W wired and 50 W wireless charging. The phone can also charge other devices, both wirelessly and over a cable at 5 W. A 100 W charger comes in the box in China.
Software and updates
The phone ships with HarmonyOS 6.1, Huawei’s own system. It does not use Android or Google services. Huawei has not announced how many years of updates it will provide. Other features include Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6.0, NFC and an infrared sensor. Beidou satellite messaging works only in mainland China.
Should you buy the Huawei Pura 90?
The Pura 90 suits buyers in China who want a thin phone with a big battery and periscope zoom. Its 100 W wired and 50 W wireless charging are also a plus. However, it uses last year’s chip, while the Pro models get the newer Kirin 9030S. Buyers outside China should note that it has no official global version and no Google apps.
