The Motorola Edge (2024) is an upper mid-range phone made for the US market. Motorola announced it on June 4, 2024. It went on sale unlocked on June 20, 2024, at Amazon, Best Buy and motorola.com. The launch price was $549.99 for 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage. The phone is now discontinued, and the Edge (2025) replaced it.
Design and display
The Edge (2024) has a 6.6-inch pOLED screen with curved sides. It runs at up to 144Hz and shows 2400 x 1080 pixels. Motorola rates its peak brightness at 1,300 nits. Corning Gorilla Glass 3 covers the front.
The back uses a vegan leather finish in Midnight Blue, the only color. The body measures 8.09 mm thick and weighs 174 grams. It has an IP68 rating for dust and water. An optical fingerprint reader sits under the display.
Performance
Inside is the Snapdragon 7s Gen 2, a 4 nm chip from Qualcomm. Its eight cores reach up to 2.4 GHz, and the Adreno 710 handles graphics. The phone has 8 GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 256 GB of storage. There is no microSD card slot.
Cameras
The main camera uses a 50 MP Sony LYTIA 700C sensor with an f/1.8 lens. It has optical image stabilization. A 13 MP ultrawide camera with a 120-degree view also handles macro shots. The rear cameras record video at up to 4K and 30 fps.
On the front, a 32 MP camera has autofocus. It records Full HD video at up to 60 fps.
Battery and charging
The battery holds 5,000 mAh. Motorola claims up to 36 hours of use on one charge. Wired charging runs at up to 68W with TurboPower. The phone also supports 15W wireless charging. A charger is not included in the box.
Software and updates
The Edge (2024) launched with Android 14. Motorola promised two major Android updates and three years of security patches. That means Android 16 is the last major version for this phone. Other features include NFC, Wi-Fi 6E, eSIM support and stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos.
Should you buy the Edge (2024)?
The Edge (2024) is no longer produced, and Motorola’s US store no longer sells it. Its successor is the Motorola Edge (2025), which adds a telephoto camera and IP69 protection.
A discounted unit can still suit buyers who want a thin body. It also offers fast wired and wireless charging. Keep in mind the short update window. The phone also has no headphone jack, no microSD slot and no telephoto lens.
