The Motorola Razr+ 2024 is a premium flip phone announced on June 25, 2024. In the US, it went on sale unlocked on July 24, 2024, at $999.99. That price covers 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage. Outside the US, the same phone is sold as the Motorola Razr 50 Ultra, which went on sale in Europe on launch day. It is the top model of Motorola’s 2024 flip lineup.
Design and display
The inside screen is a 6.9-inch pOLED panel with a 2640 x 1080 resolution. It refreshes at up to 165 Hz, supports HDR10+ and peaks at 3,000 nits. Outside, a 4.0-inch pOLED cover display fills almost the whole front. It also runs at up to 165 Hz, with a 1272 x 1080 resolution and 2,400 nits peak brightness.
The cover glass is Gorilla Glass Victus, and the frame is 6000-series aluminum. Every color uses a vegan leather back. Closed, the phone measures 88.09 x 73.99 x 15.32 mm and weighs 189 g. It carries an IPX8 water rating but has no dust rating.
Performance
The phone uses the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3, a 4 nm chip from Qualcomm. It comes with 12 GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 256 GB of UFS 4.0 storage, with no microSD slot. Connectivity covers 5G, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, NFC and USB-C 2.0.
Cameras
Motorola dropped the ultrawide camera for a telephoto lens this year. The rear setup pairs a 50 MP main camera with an f/1.7 aperture and optical stabilization with a 50 MP telephoto camera with 2x optical zoom. Inside, a 32 MP selfie camera handles video calls. The main, telephoto and selfie cameras all record 4K video at up to 60 fps.
Battery and charging
The battery holds 4,000 mAh. It supports 45 W wired charging, 15 W wireless charging and 5 W reverse charging. In the US, the charger is sold separately, while UK models include a 68 W charger.
Software and updates
The Razr+ 2024 launched with Android 14 and Motorola’s Hello UX. Motorola promises three major Android upgrades and four years of bi-monthly security updates. The cover screen can run full apps, and it supports Gemini, Google Photos and custom panels.
Should you buy the Razr+ 2024?
The Razr+ 2024 suits buyers who want a flip phone with a large, fast cover screen and a 2x telephoto camera. Its Snapdragon chip is faster than the one in the Razr 2024. Keep in mind that the battery is smaller and there is no ultrawide camera. Its successor, the Razr+ 2025, uses the same chip.
