The OnePlus 15R is the more affordable sibling of the OnePlus 15. OnePlus announced it on December 17, 2025, and sales started in India on December 22. In the US, it starts at $699.99 for the 12 GB + 256 GB model. The phone targets buyers who want flagship-class speed and battery life at a lower price. In China, the same phone is sold as the OnePlus Ace 6T.
Design and display
The 15R has an aluminum frame and a glass back in Charcoal Black and Mint Breeze. In India, an Electric Violet version uses a fiberglass back instead. The body measures 163.41 x 77.04 x 8.30 mm and weighs 214 to 215 g, depending on the color.
The flat 6.83-inch OLED panel has a 2800 x 1272 resolution and 450 ppi. It refreshes at up to 165Hz, although 144Hz and 165Hz work only in supported apps. Gorilla Glass 7i covers the screen, and OnePlus rates high brightness mode at 1,800 nits. The phone also carries IP66, IP68, IP69 and IP69K ratings for dust and water.
Performance
The 15R is the first phone with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5, a 3nm chip with two 3.8 GHz cores and six 3.32 GHz cores. It sits one step below the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 used in the OnePlus 15. Every model has 12 GB of LPDDR5X RAM, with 256 GB or 512 GB of UFS 4.1 storage. There is no microSD slot. A cooling system and a dedicated touch response chip support long gaming sessions.
Cameras
Unlike the 13R, the 15R drops the telephoto camera. The rear setup now has a 50 MP Sony IMX906 main camera with OIS and an f/1.8 lens. It is joined by an 8 MP ultrawide with a 112-degree field of view. Both rear video and slow motion reach 4K at 120 fps. On the front, a 32 MP camera with autofocus records 4K video at 30 fps.
Battery and charging
The 7,400 mAh silicon-carbon battery is the largest OnePlus had used at launch. Outside the US, the phone supports 80W SUPERVOOC wired charging. US models include a 55W charger in the box, and 80W requires a separate OnePlus adapter. In the UK and Europe, no charger is included. Wireless charging is not supported, but bypass charging is available for gaming.
Software and updates
The phone ships with OxygenOS 16 based on Android 16. OnePlus promises four major Android upgrades and six years of security patches. Other features include an ultrasonic in-display fingerprint reader, stereo speakers, an IR blaster, Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6.0.
Should you buy the OnePlus 15R?
The 15R suits buyers who value speed, a 165Hz screen and long battery life. Its strong water and dust protection also helps for outdoor use. However, it lacks a telephoto camera and wireless charging. Photography fans may prefer a phone with a more versatile camera system.
