The OPPO Find N2 Flip is the company’s first clamshell foldable. OPPO announced it in China on December 15, 2022, and sales there began on December 30. The global launch followed on February 15, 2023, with sales in the UK from March 2. In the UK it cost £849, and in France the launch price was €1,099.90. The phone was not sold in the US.
Design and display
Unfolded, the phone has a 6.8-inch flexible AMOLED screen with a 2520 x 1080 resolution and 403 ppi. The LTPO panel runs from 1Hz to 120Hz and reaches 1,600 nits in a small area. OPPO’s Flexion Hinge folds the phone flat with no gap, and the hinge is rated for 400,000 folds.
The vertical cover screen measures 3.26 inches with a 720 x 382 resolution and a 60Hz rate. It shows notifications, widgets and a camera preview. The phone weighs 191 grams and is 16.02 mm thick when folded. It has aluminum sides and a glass back. Astral Black has a textured matte finish, while Moonlit Purple is glossy. A third color, Flowing Gold, was sold only in China. The phone has no official IP rating.
Performance
The phone runs on the MediaTek Dimensity 9000+, a 4nm chip with a top CPU core at 3.2 GHz and a Mali-G710 MC10 GPU. Global models have 8GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage. In China, OPPO also sold 12GB/256GB and 16GB/512GB versions. There is no microSD card slot.
Cameras
The rear has two cameras. The main camera uses a 50MP Sony IMX890 sensor with an f/1.8 lens. An 8MP ultrawide camera with an f/2.2 lens and a 112-degree view sits next to it. The main camera has no optical image stabilization, so video relies on electronic stabilization.
Inside, a 32MP front camera has autofocus. The rear cameras record up to 4K at 30fps, and the front camera records up to 1080p at 30fps. Images are processed with help from OPPO’s MariSilicon X chip, and the color tuning carries Hasselblad branding.
Battery and charging
The battery has a typical capacity of 4,300mAh. It charges at up to 44W with SUPERVOOC, and the box includes a charger. The phone does not support wireless charging or reverse wireless charging.
Software and updates
The phone launched with Android 13 and ColorOS 13. OPPO’s specs page promises at least three Android version upgrades and four years of security updates from launch. Other features include NFC, dual SIM, 5G, Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.3. The fingerprint reader sits in the power button, and the phone has stereo speakers. There is no headphone jack.
Should you buy the OPPO Find N2 Flip?
The Find N2 Flip suits buyers who want a flip phone with a large cover screen and a battery bigger than most clamshell rivals. Its nearly invisible crease and gapless fold are its main design points. Keep in mind the missing water resistance, wireless charging and optical stabilization. OPPO’s UK store now lists the phone as out of stock. Its successor is the Find N3 Flip, which OPPO sells in Asia.
