The Oukitel WP61 Ultra is a rugged 5G phone with a built-in thermal imaging camera. Oukitel announced the WP61 series on March 30, 2026. The phone went on sale the same day in the brand’s official store. Oukitel set an introductory global price of $429.99 for the single 12 GB + 512 GB version. It sits at the top of the WP61 lineup, next to the WP61 and the walkie-talkie WP61 Plus.
Design and display
This is a large and heavy device. It measures 179.5 x 85 x 27.5 mm and weighs 651 grams. The body carries IP68 and IP69K ratings, and Oukitel states MIL-STD-810H compliance. The official operating range is -20°C to 55°C.
The front has a 6.78-inch display with a 1080 x 2460 resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. Oukitel lists 650 nits of brightness and Corning Gorilla Glass 5. A side-mounted fingerprint reader handles unlocking. The back holds a 1,200-lumen camping light with SOS and strobe modes. Next to the cameras sits a 5W loudspeaker rated at 130 dB.
Performance
The phone runs on the MediaTek Dimensity 7025, built on a 6nm process. It has two Cortex-A78 cores at 2.5 GHz and six Cortex-A55 cores at 2.0 GHz. Graphics come from an IMG BXM-8-256 GPU. There is 12 GB of RAM and 512 GB of UFS 3.1 storage. A microSD card adds up to 2 TB, but it shares the tray with the second SIM.
Cameras
The thermal camera is the main reason to pick this model. It uses an InfiRay sensor with a 256 x 192 resolution and a 56-degree horizontal field of view. Oukitel quotes a temperature range of -10°C to 550°C and a sensitivity below 50 mK. A separate app controls the thermal view, and it can blend thermal data with the main camera image.
The main camera has a 108MP Samsung HM6 sensor with an f/1.9 lens. It records video at up to 2K and 30 fps. An 8MP night vision camera works with an infrared fill light and shoots in black and white. On the front, a 32MP Sony IMX616 camera records at 1080p.
Battery and charging
A 20,000mAh battery powers the phone. It supports 45W wired charging and reverse charging for other devices. Oukitel’s own figures show about 255 minutes for a full charge. A charger comes in the box.
Software and updates
The WP61 Ultra ships with Android 16 close to the stock version. Google Gemini and Oukitel’s AI Beacon assistant come preinstalled. Oukitel has not published an update policy for this phone.
Should you buy the WP61 Ultra?
The WP61 Ultra suits electricians, HVAC workers, inspectors and outdoor users who want a thermal camera inside their phone. The large battery and the camping light add value on long days away from power. On the other hand, the 651-gram weight makes it hard to carry in a pocket. There is no ultrawide camera, and there is no promise of future Android upgrades. If you do not need thermal imaging, the cheaper WP61 offers the same core hardware.
