The POCO M6 Pro is a 4G budget phone that POCO announced globally on January 11, 2024. It launched alongside the POCO X6 series. In Europe, the official Xiaomi store listed it at €229.90 for the 8GB + 256GB version. The phone is now discontinued. It is gone from POCO’s current lineup, and official European stores no longer sell it.
Design and display
The M6 Pro measures 7.98 mm thick and weighs 179 g. Its back is visually split into two parts and comes in Black, Blue and Purple. The phone carries an IP54 rating against dust and splashes.
On the front sits a flat 6.67-inch AMOLED panel with a 2400 x 1080 resolution and 394 ppi. It refreshes at up to 120Hz and reaches 1,300 nits at peak. Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protects the screen. Xiaomi notes that the panel does not support HDR playback.
Performance
Inside is the MediaTek Helio G99 in its “Ultra” version. This 6nm chip has two Cortex-A76 cores at up to 2.2GHz. A Mali-G57 MC2 GPU handles graphics. You can choose 8GB of RAM with 256GB of storage or 12GB with 512GB. The storage is UFS 2.2, and a hybrid slot accepts microSD cards up to 1TB. The phone supports 4G only, with no 5G.
Cameras
The rear setup has three cameras. The main one uses a 64MP 1/2-inch sensor with an f/1.79 lens and optical stabilization. It is joined by an 8MP ultrawide with a 118-degree view and a 2MP macro camera. A 16MP camera sits on the front. Both the rear and front cameras record video at up to 1080p and 60fps.
Battery and charging
A 5,000mAh battery powers the phone. It supports 67W wired charging, and a 67W charger comes in the box. There is no wireless charging and no reverse wireless charging.
Software and updates
The M6 Pro shipped with Android 13 and MIUI 14 for POCO. Xiaomi has not published an update promise for this 4G model. Other features include NFC, an IR blaster, dual speakers and a 3.5mm headphone jack. An in-display fingerprint reader handles security.
Should you buy the POCO M6 Pro?
The M6 Pro suits buyers on a budget. It offers a bright 120Hz AMOLED screen and fast 67W charging. It also keeps a headphone jack and a microSD slot. However, it lacks 5G, its frame and back use plastic, and its video tops out at 1080p. Since the phone is discontinued, check that any unit you buy is new and covered by a warranty. Newer POCO M-series models now replace it in the lineup.
