The POCO X5 Pro is a mid-range 5G phone. POCO announced it on February 6, 2023, as the successor to the X4 Pro 5G. Its official name is POCO X5 Pro 5G. In Europe, it launched at €349.90 for 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage. In China, the same phone is sold as the REDMI Note 12 Pro Speed.

Design and display

The phone has a flat 6.67-inch Flow AMOLED DotDisplay with a 2400 x 1080 resolution. It refreshes at up to 120 Hz and shows 10-bit color. Peak brightness is 900 nits. The panel supports HDR10+ and Dolby Vision. Gorilla Glass 5 covers the front, and the back is plastic. At 7.9 mm and 181 g, it is thinner and lighter than the regular X5. It also has an IP53 rating against splashes.

Performance

Inside is the Snapdragon 778G, a 6 nm chip with an Adreno 642L GPU. The CPU runs at up to 2.4 GHz. Memory options are 6 GB of RAM with 128 GB of storage, or 8 GB with 256 GB. Storage is UFS 2.2, and there is no microSD slot. In Geekbench 6, the phone scores about 980 single-core and 2,630 multi-core. Compared with the X5, the Pro gets the faster chip, a 108 MP camera and faster charging.

Cameras

The main camera uses a 108 MP Samsung ISOCELL HM2 sensor. It measures 1/1.52 inches and has an f/1.9 aperture. An 8 MP ultrawide camera with a 120-degree view and a 2 MP macro camera join it. There is no optical image stabilization. The rear cameras record 4K video at 30 fps. The 16 MP front camera records 1080p video at up to 60 fps.

Battery and charging

The battery holds 5,000 mAh. It supports 67 W wired charging, and the charger is included in the box. The phone does not support wireless charging.

Software and updates

The POCO X5 Pro shipped with MIUI 14 for POCO on Android 12. Xiaomi’s official update list ended its security support in February 2026, three years after launch. POCO never promised a set number of Android upgrades. The phone has stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos and a 3.5 mm jack. It also offers NFC, an IR blaster, Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.2.

Should you buy the POCO X5 Pro?

The POCO X5 Pro offered a lot for a low price. Highlights are a bright 120 Hz AMOLED screen, stereo speakers and 67 W charging. Its security updates have now ended, though. The official stores in Europe also list it as out of stock. Buyers who want long support should look at the POCO X6 Pro, its successor.
