The REDMI 13C 5G is an entry-level Android phone from REDMI. It is the 5G version of the REDMI 13C, which uses a slower 4G chip. Xiaomi announced it in India on December 6, 2023, and sales began there on December 16. Its launch price in India was ₹10,999 for the 4 GB + 128 GB model. Xiaomi later sold it in Europe, the UK, Southeast Asia, the Middle East and Latin America. In China, the same phone is sold as the REDMI 13R 5G. In India, it is also sold as the POCO M6 5G.
Design and display
The phone has a flat frame and a two-camera layout on the back. Xiaomi’s global specs list 168.05 x 77.91 x 8.19 mm and 195 grams. The global colors are Starry Black, Twilight Blue and Starry Silver. In India, Xiaomi sold it in Starlight Black, Startrail Silver and an India-only Startrail Green.
The 6.74-inch LCD has a 1600 x 720 resolution and a 90Hz refresh rate. Touch sampling reaches 180Hz. Typical brightness is 450 nits, and peak brightness is 600 nits. The Indian specs list Corning Gorilla Glass on the screen. The panel also has TÜV Rheinland low blue light and flicker-free certifications.
Performance
The phone runs on the MediaTek Dimensity 6100+, a 6nm chip. It has two Cortex-A76 cores at 2.2GHz and six Cortex-A55 cores at 2.0GHz. Graphics come from a Mali-G57 MC2 GPU. Global versions come with 4 GB + 128 GB or 8 GB + 256 GB. India also gets a 6 GB + 128 GB model. Storage is UFS 2.2, and a microSD slot takes cards up to 1 TB.
The 4G REDMI 13C uses a Helio G85. This model swaps it for the faster Dimensity chip and adds 5G. It also drops one rear camera. The front camera has 5 MP instead of 8 MP.
Cameras
The main rear camera has 50 MP and an f/1.8 aperture. A second auxiliary lens sits next to it, but Xiaomi does not list its resolution. Camera features include night mode, HDR, AI portrait mode and time-lapse. The front camera has 5 MP. Both cameras record video at up to 1080p and 30 fps.
Battery and charging
A 5,000 mAh battery powers the phone. It supports 18W wired charging and has no wireless charging. Box contents vary by market. The Indian, French and global packages list a charger, while the UK version ships without one. Xiaomi rates video playback at about 22 hours.
Software and updates
The phone launched with MIUI 14 based on Android 13. Xiaomi has not published an official number of OS upgrades or years of security updates for this model. Other features include a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, a 3.5 mm headphone jack, Bluetooth 5.3 and dual-band Wi-Fi.
Should you buy the REDMI 13C 5G?
The REDMI 13C 5G suits buyers who want 5G, a large screen and a big battery for little money. The microSD slot and headphone jack are useful for storage and wired audio. However, the HD+ screen, 18W charging and basic cameras are entry-level. Xiaomi does not sell this phone in the US.
