The REDMI Note 12 Pro 5G is a mid-range 5G phone. It pairs a 50 MP Sony camera with 67 W charging. Xiaomi first launched it in China on October 27, 2022. In China, the same phone is sold as the REDMI Note 12 Pro. It reached India in January 2023 and Europe in March 2023. In Germany, it launched at €399.90 with 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage. Xiaomi no longer sells it in its European stores, so it is now discontinued.
This is a different phone from the 4G REDMI Note 12 Pro, which uses a Snapdragon 732G.
Design and display
The 6.67-inch Flow AMOLED display has a 2400 x 1080 resolution and a 120 Hz refresh rate. It reaches 900 nits peak brightness and supports Dolby Vision and HDR10+. Gorilla Glass 5 protects the front.
The body is 7.9 mm thick and weighs 187 g. It has a glass back and a plastic frame, plus an IP53 rating for dust and splashes. The global colors are Midnight Black, Polar White and Sky Blue. Sky Blue has a matte back, while black and white are glossy. India also got a Stardust Purple special edition.
Other features include stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos, a side fingerprint reader and an IR blaster. There is also a 3.5 mm headphone jack, NFC, Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.2.
Performance
The phone runs on the Dimensity 1080, a 6 nm chip with CPU cores at up to 2.6 GHz. The GPU is a Mali-G68. Memory is LPDDR4X with UFS 2.2 storage. Versions range from 6/128 GB to 12/256 GB, and there is no microSD slot.
Compared with the 4G Note 12 Pro, this model adds 5G, a faster chip and 67 W charging.
Cameras
The main camera uses the 50 MP Sony IMX766 sensor with a 1/1.56-inch size. It has an f/1.88 lens and optical image stabilization. An 8 MP ultrawide with a 119° view and a 2 MP macro camera complete the rear setup. Rear video goes up to 4K at 30 fps. The 16 MP front camera records 1080p at up to 60 fps.
Battery and charging
The 5,000 mAh battery supports 67 W wired charging, and the charger is in the box. There is no wireless charging. The USB-C port works at USB 2.0 speed.
Software and updates
The global model shipped with MIUI 14 based on Android 12. Xiaomi Germany told Notebookcheck that it gets two major Android updates. That means Android 14 is the last version. Xiaomi’s security update list shows support until March 23, 2027.
Should you buy the REDMI Note 12 Pro 5G?
The phone suits buyers who want a stabilized main camera, stereo speakers and fast charging in a slim body. Its OLED screen with Dolby Vision is good for video. However, it no longer gets OS upgrades, and Xiaomi has stopped selling it. The successor is the REDMI Note 13 Pro 5G, which adds IP54 protection.
