The Samsung Galaxy A57 5G is a mid-range phone in the Galaxy A series. Samsung announced it on March 25, 2026, alongside the Galaxy A37 5G. It went on sale in the US on April 9, 2026, and in other select markets a day later. In the US, it starts at $549.99 for the 8GB + 128GB model and is sold unlocked. It replaces the Galaxy A56 5G.
Design and display
The phone measures 161.5 x 76.8 x 6.9 mm and weighs 179 g. According to Samsung, it is slimmer and lighter than the previous model. Gorilla Glass Victus+ covers both the front and the back, while the frame is aluminum. The phone also carries an IP68 rating, tested for up to 1.5 meters of fresh water for 30 minutes. The predecessor was rated IP67.
The flat 6.7-inch Super AMOLED Plus panel has a 1080 x 2340 resolution and a refresh rate of up to 120Hz. It reaches 1,900 nits at peak and supports HDR10+. In addition, the bezels are slimmer than on the Galaxy A56 5G. An optical fingerprint reader sits under the display.
Performance
Inside is the Exynos 1680, a 4nm octa-core chip with Xclipse 550 graphics. Samsung says CPU and GPU performance is up to 15% higher than on the Galaxy A56 5G. It pairs the chip with LPDDR5X memory and UFS 3.1 storage. The options are 8GB + 128GB, 8GB + 256GB, 12GB + 256GB and 12GB + 512GB, depending on the market. The US gets the two 8GB versions. There is no microSD slot. A vapor chamber 13% larger than before helps manage heat during long gaming or recording sessions.
Cameras
The rear setup includes three cameras. The main camera has 50MP, an f/1.8 aperture and optical image stabilization. It is joined by a 12MP f/2.2 ultrawide and a 5MP f/2.4 macro camera. There is no telephoto lens, so zoom is digital only. On the front, a 12MP f/2.2 camera handles selfies. Both the main and front cameras can record 4K video at 30fps. Samsung credits an improved image signal processor for better low-light shots.
Battery and charging
The Galaxy A57 5G has a 5,000mAh battery. Wired charging goes up to 45W, and Samsung quotes up to 60% in about 30 minutes. However, this speed requires a 45W charger, which is sold separately. The box includes only a USB-C cable and a SIM tool. The phone does not support wireless charging.
Software and updates
The phone ships with Android 16 and One UI 8.5. Samsung promises up to six Android OS upgrades and six years of security updates. On the AI side, Awesome Intelligence adds Object Eraser, Best Face, Edit Suggestions, Voice Transcription and Circle to Search with Google. Knox Vault provides hardware-based security. For wireless connections, the phone supports 5G, Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 6.0.
Should you buy the Galaxy A57 5G?
The Galaxy A57 5G suits buyers who want a thin, light phone with a large AMOLED screen and IP68 protection. Long software support is another reason to consider it. On the other hand, it lacks wireless charging, a headphone jack, a microSD slot and a telephoto camera. Owners of the Galaxy A56 5G will find the camera hardware largely the same. Buyers should also budget for a charger, because none comes in the box.
