The Galaxy Z TriFold is the first Samsung phone that folds twice. Samsung announced it on December 2, 2025, and sales started in South Korea on December 12, 2025. It reached the US on January 30, 2026, at $2,899 for the 16 GB / 512 GB model. At launch, it was the most expensive regular phone Samsung sold. Samsung ended sales in March 2026 after a limited production run, so the phone is now discontinued.
Design and display
The phone uses two hinges and an inward-folding design that keeps the main screen protected. Fully open, it shows a 10-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X panel with 2160 x 1584 pixels. The refresh rate adapts from 1 to 120 Hz. Samsung rates that screen at 1,600 nits peak. When closed, a 6.5-inch cover screen with up to 2,600 nits works like a regular phone.
Unfolded, the body is 3.9 mm thick at its thinnest point. Folded, it measures 12.9 mm and weighs 309 g. The frame uses Advanced Armor Aluminum, and a titanium housing covers the hinges. The back is a ceramic-glass fiber-reinforced polymer in Crafted Black, and the cover screen uses Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2. The IP48 rating covers water immersion, but Samsung notes it is not dust- or sand-resistant.
Performance
Inside is a Snapdragon 8 Elite tuned for Galaxy phones, built on a 3 nm process. Every version has 16 GB of RAM. Storage is 512 GB or 1 TB, depending on the market, and there is no microSD slot. The US received only the 512 GB model. The large screen can run three apps side by side. It was also the first phone with standalone Samsung DeX.
Cameras
The rear setup has a 200 MP main camera with OIS and a 12 MP ultrawide. A 10 MP telephoto adds 3x optical zoom. Digital zoom reaches 30x. There are two 10 MP selfie cameras, one on the cover screen and one on the main screen. Several reviews note that this camera hardware matches the Galaxy Z Fold7.
Battery and charging
A 5,600 mAh battery is split into three cells, one in each panel. It is the largest battery Samsung has put in a foldable. Wired charging reaches 45 W, and Samsung says a 50 percent charge takes around 30 minutes. The phone also supports 15 W wireless charging and Wireless PowerShare. Unlike other recent Galaxy flagships, it ships with a 45 W power adapter and a case in the box.
Software and updates
The TriFold launched with Android 16 and One UI 8. Samsung promises seven years of OS upgrades and seven years of security updates. Galaxy AI tools such as Photo Assist, Generative Edit and Gemini Live are included.
Should you buy the Galaxy Z TriFold?
The TriFold suits buyers who want a 10-inch workspace that still fits in a pocket. It offers a large battery, a charger in the box and a long update promise. However, it is heavy, expensive and only rated IP48. Samsung no longer produces it, and the US product page lists it as sold out. A successor has not been announced.
