The Xiaomi 13T is an upper mid-range phone from Xiaomi with Leica-tuned cameras. Xiaomi announced it on September 26, 2023, at an event in Berlin. It was not sold in the US. In Europe, it launched at €649.90 with 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage. The phone is now discontinued, and Xiaomi’s online stores no longer sell it.
Design and display
The 13T shares its body with the Xiaomi 13T Pro. It measures 162.2 x 75.7 mm and is 8.49 mm thick with a glass back. The Alpine Blue version uses a vegan leather back and is 8.62 mm thick. The glass model weighs 197 g, while the leather one weighs 193 g. Both versions carry an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance.
The flat 6.67-inch AMOLED screen has a resolution of 2712 x 1220 pixels at 446 ppi. It refreshes at up to 144 Hz and supports Dolby Vision, HDR10+ and HDR10. Xiaomi rates its peak brightness at 2,600 nits. Gorilla Glass 5 protects the front.
Performance
Inside is a MediaTek Dimensity 8200 in its Dimensity 8200-Ultra version. It is built on a 4 nm process. The fastest CPU core runs at up to 3.1 GHz, and the GPU is a Mali-G610. Memory is LPDDR5 RAM paired with UFS 3.1 storage. Globally, Xiaomi offered 8 GB or 12 GB of RAM with 256 GB of storage. In Europe, only the 8 GB version was sold. There is no microSD card slot.
Cameras
The rear camera system was co-engineered with Leica. The main camera uses a 50 MP 1/1.28-inch Sony IMX707 sensor. It has an f/1.9 lens and optical image stabilization. A 50 MP telephoto camera offers 2x optical zoom at a 50 mm equivalent focal length. A 12 MP ultra-wide camera covers a 15 mm field of view. The rear cameras record video at up to 4K at 30 fps. The 20 MP front camera records up to 1080p at 30 fps.
Battery and charging
The 13T has a 5,000 mAh battery. It supports 67W wired charging, and Xiaomi quotes a full charge in 42 minutes. A charger is included in the box. The phone does not support wireless charging.
Software and updates
The phone launched with Android 13 and MIUI 14. Xiaomi promised four major Android updates and five years of security patches. Other features include NFC, an IR blaster, stereo speakers, Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.4. The USB-C port runs at USB 2.0 speed. For security, there is an optical in-display fingerprint reader and 2D face unlock.
Should you buy the Xiaomi 13T?
The Xiaomi 13T suits buyers who want a large, bright display and IP68 protection. A 2x telephoto camera is rare at this price. The long update promise also adds value. However, the phone is no longer produced, so new units are hard to find. Xiaomi later released the 14T series. Buyers who need wireless charging should look elsewhere. The Xiaomi 13T Pro adds a faster chip and 120W charging in the same body.
