The HONOR 200 is a mid-range phone with a strong focus on portrait photography. HONOR announced it in China on May 27, 2024, and sales there began on May 31. The European launch followed in Paris on June 12, 2024. In the UK, it launched at £499.99. It sits between the HONOR 200 Lite and the HONOR 200 Pro.
Design and display
The phone is 7.7 mm thin and weighs about 187 g. It uses a 6.7-inch AMOLED panel with curved edges on all four sides. The resolution is 2664 x 1200 pixels, and the refresh rate goes up to 120Hz. HONOR rates peak brightness at 4,000 nits.
The display also uses 3840Hz PWM dimming, which is TÜV Rheinland flicker-free certified. An optical fingerprint reader sits under the screen. The HONOR 200 has no official IP rating, so it is not certified against water or dust. Colors include Emerald Green, Moonlight White, Coral Pink and Black.
Performance
Inside is the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3, an upper mid-range chip built on a 4 nm process. Its fastest core runs at 2.63 GHz, and the GPU is the Adreno 720. UK models come with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, or 12GB and 512GB. There is no microSD slot.
Cameras
The rear setup has three cameras. The 50MP main camera uses a 1/1.56-inch Sony IMX906 sensor with OIS. A 50MP telephoto camera adds 2.5x optical zoom and also has OIS. A 12MP ultrawide camera completes the set.
Telephoto lenses are rare at this price. HONOR worked with Studio Harcourt in Paris on portrait styles for the camera app. On the front, a 50MP selfie camera can record 4K video, like the main camera.
Battery and charging
The phone has a 5,200 mAh silicon-carbon battery. Wired charging reaches 100W with HONOR’s SuperCharge adapter. However, the charger is not in the box in Europe and the UK. There is no wireless charging, which is reserved for the HONOR 200 Pro.
Software and updates
The HONOR 200 shipped with MagicOS 8.0 based on Android 14. It also has an IR blaster, NFC and stereo speakers. Connectivity includes 5G, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.3 and a USB-C 2.0 port. The phone takes a nano-SIM and also supports eSIM.
Should you buy the HONOR 200?
The HONOR 200 suits buyers who want a 2.5x telephoto camera without paying flagship prices. Its bright display, thin body and fast wired charging are also strong points. On the other hand, it lacks an IP rating and wireless charging. Its successor, the HONOR 400, arrived in 2025, so check current prices before you buy.
