The Motorola Moto G17 Power is an entry-level 4G phone built around a large battery. Motorola announced it on January 29, 2026, alongside the regular Moto G17. It is sold in Europe and in Latin American markets such as Mexico and Colombia. Motorola does not sell it in the US or the UK. Compared with the G17, it adds a bigger battery, faster charging and more memory.
Design and display
The G17 Power uses the same 6.72-inch LCD as the G17. It has a 2400 x 1080 resolution, about 392 pixels per inch and a 60 Hz refresh rate. Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protects the screen.
The body measures 165.67 x 75.98 x 8.8 mm, so it is slightly thicker than the G17. The back has a vegan leather finish. In Europe, the colors are Pantone Evening Blue and Alaskan Blue. Motorola’s press kit also shows a Tarmac version. An IP64 rating protects against dust and splashes, and the fingerprint reader sits on the side.
Performance
The phone runs on the MediaTek Helio G81, which Motorola calls the Helio G81 Extreme. It has two Cortex-A75 cores at 2.0 GHz and six Cortex-A55 cores at 1.7 GHz. A Mali-G52 MC2 GPU handles graphics. In Europe, it comes with 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage. A microSD slot accepts cards up to 1 TB.
There is no 5G support. The phone offers Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth 5.4 and NFC in most markets. It also keeps a 3.5 mm jack and stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos.
Cameras
The camera setup matches the G17. The main camera uses a 50 MP Sony LYTIA 600 sensor and an f/1.88 lens. Next to it is a 5 MP ultrawide camera. A flicker sensor helps under artificial light. The front camera has 32 MP. Video recording tops out at 1080p and 30 fps on both sides, and there is no optical stabilization.
Battery and charging
The main difference is the battery. The G17 Power has a 6,000 mAh cell, up from 5,200 mAh in the G17. Motorola quotes up to 64.3 hours of battery life. Wired TurboPower charging reaches 30W, compared with 18W on the G17. The box in Europe includes a cable but no charger, and there is no wireless charging.
Software and updates
The G17 Power ships with Android 15 and Motorola’s Hello UX. Google tools such as Gemini and Circle to Search are included. Motorola promises two years of security updates. It has not committed to any Android version upgrades.
Should you buy the Moto G17 Power?
The G17 Power fits buyers who care most about battery life and storage space. It also keeps a headphone jack and a microSD slot. On the other hand, it lacks 5G, has a 60 Hz screen and gets no OS upgrades. If you can live with less battery and 18W charging, the Moto G17 offers the same screen and cameras.
