The Phone (3a) Pro is a mid-range smartphone from Nothing with a periscope zoom camera. It was announced on March 4, 2025, alongside the Phone (3a). In the US, Nothing sold it through its Beta Program at $459 for the 12GB/256GB version. The Phone (4a) Pro has since taken its place as the newest Pro model in the series.
Design and display
The Pro shares the transparent glass back and Glyph lights of the standard model. However, a large round camera island makes it easy to tell apart. The body is rated IP64 for dust and water resistance. It measures 163.5 x 77.5 x 8.35 mm and weighs 211 g.
The 6.77-inch flexible AMOLED screen has a resolution of 1084 x 2392 pixels. It refreshes at up to 120 Hz and peaks at 3,000 nits. HDR10+ is supported, and Panda Glass covers the panel. In addition, the Essential Key on the right side opens Nothing’s AI tools.
Performance
Inside is the Snapdragon 7s Gen 3, a 4 nm chip with cores clocked at up to 2.5 GHz. The global model comes with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. India also gets 8GB/128GB and 8GB/256GB versions. The storage uses the UFS 2.2 standard, and there is no microSD slot.
Cameras
The main difference from the Phone (3a) is the camera system. The 50 MP main camera uses a 1/1.56-inch sensor with an f/1.88 lens and optical stabilization. Next, a 50 MP periscope telephoto offers 3x optical zoom, 6x in-sensor zoom and up to 60x digital zoom. It also has optical stabilization. An 8 MP ultrawide camera rounds out the rear setup.
The selfie camera moves up to 50 MP, compared with 32 MP on the Phone (3a). Both the front and rear cameras record 4K video at 30 fps.
Battery and charging
The battery holds 5,000 mAh and charges at up to 50 W by cable. Nothing quotes 50% in 19 minutes and a full charge in 56 minutes. The phone also offers 7.5 W reverse wired charging. There is no wireless charging, and no charger comes in the box.
Software and updates
The phone launched with Nothing OS 3.1 based on Android 15. Nothing promises three major Android updates and six years of security patches. Essential Space collects notes, screenshots and voice memos in one AI-assisted hub.
Should you buy the Phone (3a) Pro?
The Phone (3a) Pro suits buyers who want a 3x periscope zoom camera at a mid-range price. It also fits people who take many selfies or need eSIM support, which the standard model lacks outside Japan. Buyers who want wireless charging or faster storage should consider other phones. Keep in mind that the Phone (4a) Pro is now the newer model.
