The nubia Z80 Ultra is a large flagship phone that pairs a 35mm main camera with a gaming-focused chip. nubia announced it in China on October 22, 2025, and started selling it globally in November 2025. Its global launch price is $649 for the 12GB + 256GB model. In Europe, it costs €649 in the same configuration.
Design and display
The 6.85-inch OLED screen has a 1216 x 2688 resolution and a 144Hz refresh rate. nubia rates its peak brightness at 2,000 nits. The selfie camera sits under the display, so there is no notch or punch hole.
The body measures 164.5 x 77.2 x 8.6 mm and weighs about 227 grams. It uses an aluminum frame and a glass back. The phone is rated IP68 and IP69 for water and dust. It also has a slide key, a two-stage camera button and an ultrasonic fingerprint reader under the screen.
Performance
Inside is the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, built on a 3nm process. It comes with 12GB or 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and up to 1TB of UFS 4.1 storage. There is no microSD slot.
For cooling, nubia uses a composite liquid metal layer and a large vapor chamber. The software also includes a gaming engine taken from the REDMAGIC line, plus a dedicated game space.
Cameras
There are three rear cameras. The main one uses a 50MP 1/1.3-inch sensor with a 35mm-equivalent lens, f/1.7 aperture and optical stabilization. A 50MP ultrawide camera covers an 18mm view and can focus as close as 5.5 cm.
The third camera is a 64MP periscope telephoto with optical stabilization. It can also shoot telephoto macro shots from about 15 cm. On the front, there is a 16MP under-display camera.
Battery and charging
The battery has a typical capacity of 7,200mAh. The global model supports 80W wired charging and 80W wireless charging with official nubia chargers. The China model is rated for 90W wired charging instead.
Wireless charging is new for the Z-series Ultra line. However, the global box does not include a charger. It ships with a cable, a case and a screen protector.
Software and updates
The phone runs Android 16 with nubia’s Nebula AIOS 2. Global markets call it MyOS. Google Gemini and Circle to Search are built in. nubia promises one major Android upgrade and three years of security updates.
Should you buy the nubia Z80 Ultra?
The Z80 Ultra suits buyers who want a flagship chip and a very large battery. Its screen also has no camera cutout. The 35mm main camera fits people who like a natural field of view for street and portrait shots.
On the other hand, the update promise is short for a flagship. The phone is also big and heavy, and it is not officially sold in the US. Buyers in Europe, the UK and other supported markets can order it from nubia’s online stores.
