The OnePlus Nord 2T 5G is a mid-range phone announced on May 19, 2022. Sales in the UK and Europe began on May 24, 2022. In Europe, the 8 GB and 128 GB version launched at €399. The UK price was £369. OnePlus did not sell it in the US. The Nord 3 5G followed it in 2023.
Design and display
The phone has a flat 6.43-inch AMOLED screen with a 2400 x 1080 resolution. Its refresh rate is 90 Hz. The panel is HDR10+ certified and uses Gorilla Glass 5. The body measures 159.1 x 73.2 x 8.2 mm and weighs 190 g. It has a plastic frame and a glass back. OnePlus also kept its alert slider on the right side.
Two colors were sold: Gray Shadow with a matte finish and Jade Fog with a glossy finish. Neither color was limited to one region. There is no IP rating, so OnePlus makes no official claim of water or dust resistance.
Performance
The phone uses the MediaTek Dimensity 1300, a 6 nm chip with one 3.0 GHz Cortex-A78 core. A Mali-G77 MC9 handles graphics. Memory options are 8 GB or 12 GB of LPDDR4X RAM. Storage is 128 GB or 256 GB of UFS 3.1. There is no microSD slot, so the storage cannot be expanded. The 12 GB version with 256 GB cost €499 in Europe and £469 in the UK.
Cameras
The main camera has a 50 MP Sony IMX766 sensor with an f/1.8 lens and optical stabilization. An 8 MP ultrawide camera with a 120-degree view and a 2 MP mono lens join it. There is no telephoto camera. On the front, a 32 MP Sony IMX615 sensor sits behind an f/2.4 lens.
Rear video goes up to 4K at 30 fps. The front camera records up to 1080p at 30 fps. Slow motion reaches 1080p at 480 fps and 720p at 960 fps.
Battery and charging
The 4500 mAh battery uses two 2250 mAh cells. Wired charging reaches 80 W with SUPERVOOC, and OnePlus includes an 80 W adapter in the box. Wireless charging is not supported. The box also holds a phone case and a USB-C cable, while a screen protector comes pre-applied.
Software and updates
The phone launched with OxygenOS 12.1 based on Android 12. OnePlus promised two major Android updates and three years of security updates. That promised period has now ended, so buyers should not expect new features or regular patches. Connectivity includes 5G, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.2 and NFC. A USB-C 2.0 port and dual nano-SIM slots complete the set, but there is no headphone jack.
Should you buy the Nord 2T 5G?
The Nord 2T 5G suits buyers who value fast wired charging and a main camera with optical stabilization. However, its update promise has run out, and it lacks water resistance and wireless charging. Newer Nord phones have newer software support, which matters for long-term use. If you already own one, compare it with the Nord 3 5G before you upgrade.
