The POCO X6 is a mid-range 5G phone from POCO. It was announced on January 11, 2024, alongside the POCO X6 Pro. Its global launch price is $249 for the 8GB + 256GB model. In Europe, it costs €299.90. POCO does not sell it officially in the US. The phone shares most of its hardware with the REDMI Note 13 Pro 5G. However, it uses a 64MP main camera instead of a 200MP one.
Design and display
The phone has a 6.67-inch CrystalRes Flow AMOLED display. Its resolution is 2712 x 1220, or 446 ppi. It refreshes at up to 120Hz and reaches 1,800 nits at peak. Corning Gorilla Glass Victus protects the screen. The body measures 7.98 mm thick and weighs 181 grams. It carries an IP54 rating for dust and splash resistance. The X6 comes in Black, White and Blue.
Performance
Inside is the Snapdragon 7s Gen 2, a 4nm chip. Its CPU runs at up to 2.4GHz, and graphics come from an Adreno GPU. It pairs with 8GB or 12GB of LPDDR4X RAM. Storage is 256GB or 512GB of UFS 2.2, and there is no microSD slot. Connectivity includes 5G, Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth 5.2 and NFC. The phone also keeps a 3.5mm headphone jack, an IR blaster and stereo speakers.
Cameras
The rear camera system has three sensors. The main camera uses a 64MP OmniVision OV64B sensor with a 1/2-inch size. It has an f/1.79 aperture and optical image stabilization. An 8MP ultrawide camera covers a 118-degree field of view. A 2MP macro camera completes the setup. The rear cameras record 4K video at 30fps. On the front, a 16MP camera records 1080p video at up to 60fps.
Battery and charging
The POCO X6 has a 5,100mAh battery. It supports 67W wired charging, and the charger comes in the box. POCO does not list wireless charging for this model.
Software and updates
The phone launched with MIUI 14 for POCO, based on Android 13. In contrast, the X6 Pro shipped with Xiaomi HyperOS on Android 14. POCO did not publish a fixed number of OS upgrades or security update years for the X6 at launch.
Should you buy the POCO X6?
The POCO X6 suits buyers who want a large 120Hz AMOLED screen at a low price. Its stabilized main camera adds value too. It also fits people who still use wired headphones or an IR remote. However, its UFS 2.2 storage and Wi-Fi 5 are older standards. Buyers who want more speed should look at the X6 Pro with the Dimensity 8300-Ultra. The phone is also not sold in the US, so carrier support there can vary. Its successor is the POCO X7.
