The REDMI 13 is a budget 4G phone that Xiaomi launched in Europe in June 2024. It replaced the REDMI 12 and arrived without a press event, first appearing in European stores. This is the 4G model. A separate REDMI 13 5G uses a different chip and was launched in India. Xiaomi’s Italian store lists the REDMI 13 from €199.90 for 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. Outside Europe, the same phone is also sold as the POCO M6.
Design and display
The phone has a glass back and measures 8.3mm thick. It weighs 205g. Xiaomi offers it in Midnight Black, Ocean Blue, Pearl Pink and Sandy Gold. The body is rated IP53 for dust and splash resistance, and the display is covered by Corning Gorilla Glass.
The 6.79-inch LCD panel has a 2460 x 1080 resolution and a 90Hz refresh rate. Brightness reaches 450 nits in normal use and 550 nits in high-brightness mode. The screen carries TÜV Rheinland certifications for low blue light, flicker-free viewing and circadian-friendly display.
Performance
The REDMI 13 runs on the MediaTek Helio G91 in its Ultra version. This 12nm chip has eight cores with a top speed of 2.0GHz and a Mali-G52 MC2 GPU. It pairs with LPDDR4X memory and eMMC 5.1 storage. Configurations are 6GB + 128GB, 8GB + 128GB and 8GB + 256GB, depending on the market. A hybrid slot accepts a microSD card of up to 1TB.
Compared with the REDMI 13 5G, this model lacks 5G and uses the slower Helio chip. The 5G version runs on a Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 AE and has a 120Hz screen. Both share the same 108MP main camera, 5,030mAh battery and 33W charging.
Cameras
The rear has two cameras. The main one has 108MP and an f/1.75 lens, and Xiaomi advertises 3x in-sensor zoom. A 2MP macro camera sits beside it. There is no ultrawide camera. Video recording on both sides tops out at 1080p and 30fps. The front camera has 13MP and an f/2.45 lens. A ring flash around the second lens can also blink for calls and alarms.
Battery and charging
The battery has a typical capacity of 5,030mAh. The phone supports 33W wired charging over USB-C. Wireless charging is not supported. In global markets, the box does not include a charger, so buyers need a separate adapter.
Software and updates
The REDMI 13 ships with Android 14 and Xiaomi HyperOS. Xiaomi has not published an update policy for the global 4G model on its product pages. It also has NFC in most markets and Bluetooth 5.4. A side-mounted fingerprint reader and face unlock handle security.
Should you buy the REDMI 13?
The REDMI 13 suits buyers on a tight budget. It offers a large screen, a big battery and a headphone jack. Its 108MP main camera and glass back are uncommon at this price. On the other hand, it has no 5G, no ultrawide camera and a 90Hz LCD panel. Storage uses the older eMMC standard. Buyers who need 5G should look at the REDMI 13 5G or similar models.
