The REDMI Note 13 is the 4G entry model of the REDMI Note 13 series. Xiaomi announced it at its global launch event on January 15, 2024. In Europe, it started at €199.90 with 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage. This page covers the 4G version. A separate REDMI Note 13 5G uses a different chipset and adds 5G support.
Design and display
The phone has a 6.67-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 2400 x 1080 pixels. The refresh rate goes up to 120 Hz, and Xiaomi rates peak brightness at 1,800 nits. The panel covers 100% of the DCI-P3 color gamut. Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protects the screen.
The body measures 162.24 x 75.55 x 7.97 mm and weighs 188.5 g. It has an IP54 rating, so it resists dust and splashes but should not go underwater. In Europe, the colors are Mint Green, Ice Blue and Midnight Black. Some other markets also get Ocean Sunset.
Performance
The phone runs on the Snapdragon 685, a 6 nm chip with an octa-core CPU up to 2.8 GHz. Graphics come from an Adreno 610 GPU. It comes with 6 GB or 8 GB of LPDDR4X RAM. Storage is 128 GB or 256 GB of UFS 2.2. A hybrid slot also accepts a microSD card of up to 1 TB.
Compared with the REDMI Note 13 5G, this model lacks 5G and uses a different chipset. In return, it has an in-display fingerprint sensor instead of a side-mounted one. It also has dual speakers, while the 5G model has a single speaker.
Cameras
The rear camera system has three sensors. The main camera has 108 MP and an f/1.75 aperture. It works with an 8 MP ultra-wide camera and a 2 MP macro camera. The main camera does not have optical image stabilization. Rear video recording tops out at 1080p at 30 fps. The front camera has 16 MP and an f/2.4 aperture. It also records 1080p video at 30 fps.
Battery and charging
A 5,000 mAh battery powers the phone. It supports 33 W wired charging, and Xiaomi includes a 33 W charger in the box. There is no wireless charging. Other features include NFC in most markets, an IR blaster and a 3.5 mm headphone jack.
Software and updates
The REDMI Note 13 launched with MIUI 14. Xiaomi says the phone passed a 48-month software aging test in its own labs. However, the official specifications do not promise a number of Android upgrades or years of security patches. For wireless connections, the phone supports Wi-Fi 5 and Bluetooth 5.1.
Should you buy the REDMI Note 13?
The REDMI Note 13 suits buyers who want a large AMOLED screen at a low price. Its 120 Hz panel, dual speakers and headphone jack are useful extras in this class. On the other hand, the Snapdragon 685 is a modest chip, so demanding games will run slowly. Buyers who need 5G should look at the REDMI Note 13 5G instead. Xiaomi has since released the REDMI Note 14 as the next 4G model. Still, the Note 13 remains on sale in Xiaomi’s European and UK stores.
