The Samsung Galaxy A26 5G is the most affordable 2025 Galaxy A model from Samsung. It was announced on March 2, 2025. It sits below the Galaxy A36 5G and Galaxy A56 5G. In the US it launched at $299.99 for the 6GB + 128GB model in Black, with sales from March 28, 2025. It replaces the Galaxy A25 5G.
Design and display
The screen grows to 6.7 inches, up from 6.5 inches on the A25. It is a Super AMOLED panel with FHD+ resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. The front and the glass back are both covered by Gorilla Glass Victus+.
The frame is plastic. The body is 7.7mm thick, thinner than the 8.3mm A25, and weighs 200 grams. For the first time, a Galaxy A2x phone carries an IP67 rating for dust and water. Colors are Black, White, Mint and Peach Pink, depending on the market.
Performance
The phone runs on Samsung’s Exynos 1380, the 5nm chip used in the Galaxy A35 5G. It has four 2.4GHz cores and four 2.0GHz cores, with a Mali-G68 MP5 GPU.
Versions include 6GB + 128GB, 8GB + 128GB and 8GB + 256GB. Unlike the A36 and A56, the A26 keeps a microSD slot for cards up to 2TB, shared with the second SIM. Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth 5.3, NFC and USB-C 2.0 cover connectivity. Notebookcheck found no eSIM support on its European unit.
Cameras
The main camera has 50MP, an f/1.8 lens and optical stabilization. It is joined by an 8MP ultrawide and a 2MP macro camera. The rear cameras record 4K video at 30fps.
A 13MP camera handles selfies. Object Eraser removes unwanted objects from photos, and custom Filters copy colors and styles from existing pictures. Both come with One UI 7.
Battery and charging
The 5,000mAh battery charges at up to 25W. Samsung quotes up to 17 hours of video playback. There is no wireless charging, and no charger comes in the box.
Software and updates
The A26 launched with Android 15 and One UI 7. Samsung promises six generations of OS upgrades and six years of security updates. Circle to Search and Samsung Knox Vault are included. Knox Vault keeps passwords and other sensitive data in a separate secure chip.
Should you buy the Galaxy A26 5G?
The Galaxy A26 5G suits buyers who want IP67 protection, expandable storage and long updates for a low price. It has a single speaker, slower 25W charging and no eSIM in Europe. The A36 adds stereo speakers and 45W charging for $100 more. Its successor, the Galaxy A27 5G, arrived in 2026.
